okay yesterday i was oiling up my glock 22 gen4, and i was cleaning the slide and i happened to press the firing pin latch backwards"the part that sticks out the bottom of the slide and you can move back and is under spring tension....and i notice after pushing the firing pin backwards so the pin tip is not sticking out through the hole on the slide facing the back of the bullet,

and when i go and try to rack the slide back on to the frame, and the slide wont go all the way back...it gets stuck....so i have to press the firing pin safety and push the firing pin forward so the firing pin tip sticks out of the slide, and than i can get the slide back on the frame and rack it....i tried the same thing on my glock 22 gen3, and it doesnt matter on the gen3....

any help will be greatly appreciated....Thanks

If it is forward it is much easier to put back together on my Gen 3 RTF.

One of my Glocks does that too. Push the trigger forward before putting the slide on.

yeah i found this: someone else had this issue..
.
On my Gen 4, the trigger feels different than my other Glocks. They have changed the trigger bars (so I was told by Glock today). Also the slide will not go back onto the frame if the firing pin is not in the forward position.

Sounds like they changed the trigger safety a bit.

I haven't seen a Gen 4 Glock Armorer's Manual yet.

the trigger bar on the gen 4 has a little dimple or bump on it, i just checked my gen 3 glock 23 and the trigger bar has no dimple....

I have a Gen4 G17, and what you are talking about makes no difference at all on my gun. I tested it 3 times just now, and the guy went back together without any problems each time. I will add that the Gen4 doesn't go back together as easily as my Gen2. I expect that it loosen up a bit after I get some more rounds through it.

Will the gen 3 trigger & bar work in the Gen 4?

I think the slimming of the backstrap for the Gen4 might be enough of a difference that the Gen3 part will not fit. If you look at the pic posted above, the bottom tip of the polymer pieces on the left of each assembly are slightly different. (I'm sorry I don't know the correct name for the parts.)

You are totally correct in that the trigger housings are different. Its the trigger w/ trigger bar & connector that I think are the same spec and should fit in both. Just hoping someone can confirm.

I contacted Glock training, (armorer's recert. issue), and was told the only difference besides the extra pin for the backstraps was the housings were different. The trigger bar and connectors are interchangeable from Gen 3 to 4. They did not have parts yet for armorers as they are going into the new guns and I was told to check back in 6 weeks.

The trigger bars are designed differently especially where the trigger spring attaches. The hole is oval where the spring attaches and the bottom of the arm has a slot cut into it to help stabilize the trigger spring.

But is it just a design upgrade that is interchangeable with Gen 3 ?

Will the Gen 4 trigger housing work in Gen 3 and earlier glocks?

No, its shorter due to the SF mod. However the trigger w/ trigger bar are interchangeable between Gen 3 and 4.

Despite the design update, they are interchangeable with the Gen 3. Im currently running a gen 3 trigger w trigger bar and connector in my Gen 4 G17 because it offered a better trigger pull than the particular setup the Gen 4 had out of the box.

The simple answer is no, they won't work. The G4 trigger housings look similar to the SF's, but the SF's and the G4's are not the same either.
