Cheap "free-float" handguard

I just traded an AK for a nice little home built AR, I am looking for a cheap free float handguard that has a swivel stud (to mount a bipod)...

I am going to take the front sight off and change it with a low profile gas block that I had from a previous build so it will fit under the tube.

I am eventually going to build this up into a coyote rifle but I want to start shooting it before then because I'm anxious and broke....:embarassed:

I have seen cheap tubes but they do not have the stud on them... is there a model that can be stuck into one and secured? I do have some modest gunsmithing skills but not a heck of a lot.

I don't know what to tell you, except I was looking for the exact same thing for the exact same reason. I ended up getting the Houge tube. I'm going to drill and tap it for a sling swivel stud for the bipod. A little work, but still the cheapest solution.

Get a Cheap model 1 sales tube from Midway. IIRC they are about $35.

I have a rifle length model on my sons carbine.

No swivel in them, but easy enough to drill a hole and put a swivel in them.

Use an Uncle Mikes Sling Stud and cut it to length.

In the grand scheme of things Midwest Industries has some of the cheaper FF handguards.

Yup. Just the basic tube that M1S or DPMS sells is perfect.

The rifle length full free floater on a carbine barrel is a good looking combo.
