I picked up a used Springfield 1911 A1 SS with Novak Sights and a Pachmayr Grip for 500$ is that a good deal? Also what does it mean when it says 1911 A1 "Loaded"? Is that just cause of the Novak Sights?

It means it has a lowered and flared ejection port, raised grip safety, skeletonized hammer, adjustable speed trigger, forward serrations, and I think that's about it. Great gun. In the real world, they're good middle of the road production guns. Get them too close to the internet, and they become "low end" and must be hidden from public view in shame. If it's in good shape, you paid a very fair price. Congrats.

$500 is a good deal. Even if the finish is a little scuffed up it can be cleaned up with some metal polish.

Sweet!!! I'd get rid of those grips though. If the internals are in good shape you snagged quite a deal.
VZ makes some nice grips.

Good buy. My first 1911 was a stainless loaded and it was flawless for many competitions. It is still my main 1911 but it has been customized now.

Good deal on the Springfield.

I have a stainless mil spec and a parkerized load. The stainless mil-spec has been a working in process for many years. Last November I sent the slide to Novak to have "Novak Sights" installed on it.

While talking to the head tech, he told me that SA was no longer using Novak maked sights. He didn't say as to why, but he did said that they were now made in South America and China. After getting off the phone I check the Loaded Parkerize gun. On the right side of the sight it's marked "Novak''.That gun has "Novak" made sights. So check the right side of the rear sight.

My SA 1911 has Novaks its on the right side of the sight. Hmm thats interesting, I wonder why.
