Guys, chime in on this for me. Just getting into the 1911 platform (all I've had are Glocks)...

Looking for a 1911 for CCW - I love the look of the Eclipse but have heard very good things about the CDP Pro (My dad just picked up one and I shot it this past weekend and I liked it alot).

Can you give me your opinions on these two guns? I know there are nicer 1911's out there but want to stay in the $1000 range. I have a guy locally that has the CDP Pro II that is almost new that he'd sell me for $925 but I sort of had my heart set on the Eclipse.

Thanks for your help and any advice you can offer!

I have looked at a TON of kimber info on the net and the Eclipse Kimbers seem to have less problems than some of there other models. But the CDP Pro II seems to be VERY popular too.

If you plan on carrying the new unit, I'd go with the CDP version. It's lighter and smoother with the "melt" treatment.

I've got a CDP full sized and an Eclipse Pro...wish I'd done it the other way around, but both are nice guns.

Love my CDP Pro.

I like the Tactical Pro as well...Guess I'll throw that in too...

CDP, Eclipse or Tactical?

I really like my CDP pro for carry and range. That is my preference. But, neither is wrong. Choose the one you like best...

One thought on the Eclipse. I have heard they scratch easily. Never owned an eclipse but that's one thing I remember reading..

The main question is do you want steel or aluminum?

Bac, what's your take on these two guns (Eclipse/CDP)? Do you think $925 is a good price for a LNIB CDP Pro with about 600 rounds throug it? Or for that price would you look at the Kimber Custom II? I saw in a few other posts you really like that and the supermatch I believe...

IMO, go for the used CDP Pro and save $300.00 + it's already broken in. That 4" barrel is a good size.

Aluminum or steel?
For carry you should get the CDP.

Picked up CDP a few hours ago and it looks brand new...Not a mark on it externally. The guy I bought it from put only about 300 rounds through it...

What are things I should look for internally? I ready something about replacing or swapping out the recoil spring after every 700 rounds...
