does the drop in beavertail grip safety offered by midway and other distributors actually just drop in??
is there such a thing?
i really dont want to have to have my frame cut to fit just would be alot easier if they made em universal but anyways
thanks

Nothing except the grips are 'drop in' on a 1911. Replacement parts might fit but they should be 'fitted' for safety and reliability.

If you are going to spend the money, spend the extra to have on fitted properly. You'll be happier in the end.

WilsonCombat offers two drop in beavertail grip safeties...one for the govt. and one for the commander. Order a commander drop in GS if you got a SA GI or milspec. Minor fitting is required to line up the thumb safety hole. All you need is a needle file.

My gun smith charged me $20 to fit my Wilson Beavertail, and it was well worth it to me. I installed and fitted everthing else myself.

To get a proper fit without gaps, it must be fitted to the tangs.

Yup!

Nothing "drops in", other than grips maybe.

I bought a drop in from Wilson for my Commander. It took about 2 hours of filing for it to drop in. I filed the safety instead of the frame.
