What's the deal with these?

A lot of folks on here talked about wilson, kimber and SA, but not much talk about SIG. I found one for sale locally that I'd be interested in buying, but haven't seen too many reviews on them.

What says the GT expert panel?

I'm a SIG guy (or at least used to be), and looked at a SIG 1911 and finally decided against it. There were reliability issues which have since been resolved, but there is not a very large following among Sigsters over on Sig Forum. Most over there prefer Springfields, Baers, Wilsons, Browns...

Bac will be along soon to comment on his. :)

I had one of the very first ones before sig was even making them. I will say that mine was very accurate and reliable. At that time they were kind of hit or miss. I saw several that wouldn't run right and one where the grip bushings cracked right off in the middle of a IDPA scenario. From what I understand they worked these issues out with the production guns. I never liked mine as much as my SA and eventually sold it to a guy who blew it up with reloads.

There have been several threads on here re: SIG 1911s. Many people have them and love them (myself included), and many would not touch one with a 10-foot pole. SIG had some significant QA issues in the beginning, but those have been resolved. My opinion of my SIG is that it is one of the best 1911s I have had or have shot that has cost less than $2 grand. I may have gotten one that was on the 'right side' of the bell curve in its trigger quality and accuracy.

Having said all of this, many 1911 owners are 'purists' and don't like X brand for a variety of reason. I will not own a Kimber, but many people love 'em and have had no issues, and that's OK.

I buddied up with a guy at the range not too long ago to get a couple mags through one. It didn't scream buy me, but there was certainly nothing wrong with it either. I'd say they are a worthy investment if they tickle your fancy

FYI, there's a current SIG 1911 thread over on Sig Forum.

All I can add is that the trigger pretty much sucks!

If it is in good shape like the pic, then get it. That is a good price.

Yeah, today there aren't too many SIGs that I'd want. The Mosquito is worthless, slides chewing through frames, sights falling off, misleading advertising, lousy triggers, mis-matched configurations...

The SL and X-SIX are on my radar, but with my current focus on 1911s, even the German stuff is low on the horizon.

I own a mosquito and honestly its a GREAT pistol. Sure, it HATEs the uber cheap 22 bulk packs, but so does my 10/22. When I bought my mosquito, I was recommended to shoot about 500rds of CCI through it first, I did and it works great.

The only reason I have interest in this gun is a stupid reason, I have a P238 and its basically and mini 1911 and so this would just be a fullsize version :|

Talk about dumb reasons to buy a gun

Back to your question,.....that Sig is a great deal for the price!
They started out a bit rocky but seem to be fairly reliable now?

I'm not the biggest fan of mine. I've got the STX.

Its been very reliable and solid, but mine just doesn't have that great 1911 feel for whatever reason.

I love Sigs, but I much prefer their classic models.

Im sure they are nice, as Sig is an excellent company that makes nothing but top quality products. I just would prefer a company that has been making 1911s for a longer time. Im not as interested in a 1911 by a company that just started to make 1911s when they became really popular. Id rather have one made by a compant that was making them long before that. Plus, I believe that have a fp safety, do they not? I prefer the 70 series design. Hence the Springfield TRP in my safe.

I have the Sig C3 1911 and it has been flawless. The only thing that I have shot is FMJ & Golden Sabres. It eats them like candy. It will shoot them faster than I can afford to buy them.
