Guys, are there any Wilson mag's that are flush fitting for a CDP Pro (flush like the standard Kimber mag)?

Thanks in advance!

Wilson's have a plastic base, not a welded steel base like factory mags. If you look around they do offer a low profile steel base for carry. It's not as flush as a factory base but it is plenty low profile for carry.

Buy some Checkmate's or Colt's. They are some of the best. ( Checkmate makes Colt's)

The only flush fitting Wilson magazine I know of is there range/training magazines. I cannot remember the specific name of them. I would recommend not using them though. They are not reliable at all. On top of that, I was told by a Wilson rep, that they were designed for range use only and not for carry. Personally I would go with Checkmate magazines. Or, you can go with Kimber's tac mags. They are made by Checkmate as well.

wilson doesn't make flush fitting welded base magazine. they do however make low profile base http://www.wilsoncombat.com/images/product/47DC.jpg. I use Chip McCormick match grade (flush fit) with my carry 1911. http://www.calssportingarmory.com/v/vspfiles/photos/CMC14111-2T.jpg

I agree with HC that Checkmate is a very good choice.

Yes they do, minus the welded base plate. They are flush fitting.

They're called "Service Magazines", I've owned them, they suck.

You can get them with or without the removable bumper pads.

"Ended up going with the Checkmate...Thanks guys." Be warned, if the mags have steel followers, they will chew into the alloy frame of the Pro CDP. This is true of the followers that CMC and these mags use. I get the Kimber mags where I can find them cheap, then get the Wilson spring conversion kits. Plastic followers!

That is not true.

It is not a matter or metal or not but you DO NOT want to use a follower with no front skirt like the Metalform or McCormick on the lower right column.

Metal is fine as long as it has a skirt.

With a follower with no skirt the follower will jump the mag and hit the feed ramp of a aluminum 1911 causing gouges.

Thank You Hail Ceaser for the comparision.

Very Interesting.

My duty gun, when I get a chance to qualify :crying: will be a TRP

I bought six Wilson 47D's for it. Plus, it came with two (7) round mags.

Your very welcome. This is a pic of what I carry at work.

I use Chip McCormick mags, Checkmate, and Colts (made by Metalform and Checkmate).

You will love it at work. Although be prepared to answer A LOT of questions about it. Most will be 1911 guys all the way from newbie's to WWII and Korea vets ( they will want to tell stories! But GOOD ones!:faint:)

And the occasional "Officer, Your hammer is cocked on your handgun!!!!".And this will come from a lot of other Officers you come in contact with that the only gun they have any idea about is a Glock or a revolver.

Oh, and those "Flame" Crimson Trace grips get comments too.

I know about the "skirts" that is the reason I mentioned the "type" CMC and the metalforms. Read my post closely...I prefer the Wilson plastic. I actually like the CMC's.
