FYI - "Real" Coverts are "factory" chop jobs.

FYI 2 - I sold a MK40 w/NS about 6 months ago for $500.00.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Coverts. Of the 3 Kahrs I have owned, 2 were Coverts. (One steel, one polymer.) The only Kahr I currently own is a P40 Covert. It is my most carried firearm.

The reason Kahr stopped selling the P9 and P40 Coverts, was the reject rate when cutting the frame was too high. Other then having the original box or calling Kahr with the S/N, there is no way to tell a "Factory Covert" from a Cut job if it is done correctly. Coverts are not marked any different then their "uncut" brothers.

At some point in time I would like to create a CW45 of P45 Covert.

IMHO - Since any P9 can be converted to a Covert, "I" would not pay a premium for a used Covert.

YMMV

I wonder if anyone has tried cutting a TP9 or TP40 to get the _4_ inch barrel? The gun will still be well under 7" long -- no longer than one of those new Ruger SR9c with 3.5" barrel.

The TP was made in two different grip lengths. You can find them in a "P" 7 round mag length, or the "T" 8 round length. I suppose you could cut a TP down to a "PM" sized grip, but at some point the return in concealability lessens.

I've often thought that the short grip TP was the ultimate CCW that Kahr made. Very concealable, light weight, 4" barrel...the best features of all Kahrs melded into one.
