A local gun store here has 1 of these in stock (everyone else just has the lousy WASR 10s). Is this a really good deal?

It's decent. You could have gotten one direct from the factory in Las Vegas back in late November/early December for $499 plus shipping, so I always have that in the back of my mind when I see prices for them now. Having said that, considering WASRs seem to be back down to under $400 now (what are they going for at that shop?), I'd say the SGL is $200+ better, but that's just me.

They have a few WASR 10s for $399, but it seems like that's a "50/50" rifle.
I've just read several good things about the Arsenal, and I fell for it on a SHOT show video on Youtube.

I'd say it's worth it, I just got an SGL-21 from a friend a couple of weeks ago. It's a great AK and far better than a WASR IMO.

I like mine alot...wish I had bought two back when they were $500. $680 is what they are going for now and are worth the money. Shot mine this past weekend... it was flawless.

I got a SGL21-62(plum) and a SLR106F 5.56, only paid $505 for the 21 during the sale, they are the best non preban buy IMO.

That's a pretty good price today. IMO the SGL-21s are probably the best choice today for a new AK in the $600-800 price range. Brand new Russian AK, not built from a parts kit.

You can pay more and get nicer looking or smoother AKs, but they won't necessarily function any better.

Not the best deal - but the gun is worth every penny up to maybe $800. So anything less is a bonus (market rate and availability as considerations).

Wouldn't swap by 107 for it....but wouldn't mind having either. Or both!
