I recently purchased a Springfield Loaded Parkerized that I have been somewhat happy with. I started tinkering with the adjustable trigger and I seem to like the trigger set further in than out. All in all, it makes little difference though.

I'm wondering how others set their adjustable trigger? Or is it just a gimmicky upgrade?

My trigger has a hard pull as it is. One of the things on not real happy about with my Loaded. Comparing it to a friends Colt Gold Cup, the Colt's trigger is a lot smoother and lighter than the Loaded. I probably have close to 1K rounds through it, so it's past "break in".

I'll be shopping for a trigger job in the near future.

it's only adjustable for over-travel.
you need a very small amount of overtravel so that the sear clears the 1/2 cock notch.

a trigger job does wonders.

Install a Cylinder & Slide Sear Spring and you won't need a trigger job.

A sear spring won't do much for the condition of the sear nose or hammer hooks.

The trigger moves independently. The set screw is only there to limit it's rear-ward travel (which becomes over-travel once the sear is tripped).

Adjust the screw in too far and the trigger will not be able to trip the sear.

You need to adjust it so that the sear just trips, then back it out about 1/4 turn. As was posted above that will hold the sear nose well forward of the half-cock notch on the the hammer as it falls.

Have someone competent look at your hammer & sear and they can advise you from there.
