View Full Version : Fixed or folding stock?????
I just ordered a r-15 today with a fixed stock
I'm still thinking I want a collapsible stock.
What's the difference?
Which one is best for 100-200 yard shooting?
If shooting for accuracy the A2 stock will be better, it is more rigid and doesn't rattle if you plan to hunt with it, collapsible may be better if you wear armor or heavy winter clothes so you can adjust the pull length.
Thanks for that info.
So collapsible looks cool, but is not actually the best way to go unless I plan on fighting/hunting in Siberia or LA ???
It's a personal choice, there are many tacticool collapsable stocks out there. The Magpul MOE and CTR are close to a mil carbine stock, the CTR seems to loosen after a while and rattle like the rest, the ACS and UBR have battery compartments. If you are in and out of vehicles or want to collapse the stock 4" to store it then maybe thats the way to go.
There are many cheap stocks on the market that will not last long so I would stick to the better brands Magpul or Vltor. 1 slam on the ground to remove a stuck case from the chamber can shatter some cheap plastic stocks or rip the alum adjustment notch out of others.
