View Full Version : G38c
OK, those of you who view it as sacrilege, divert your eyes. Those who don't see a need to port a .45 (never mind Glock's ported .45 ACP, and the fact that there are probably more compensators on .45s than any other pistol...) do likewise.
For anyone left viewing, here's the G38 I had Lone Wolf do the "C" style porting on. (If Glock won't make one, we're left to our own devices.) The photos also show the barrel and slide alongside my factory G19C parts.
I haven't made it to the range yet, but I expect a little less velocity, less recoil (which admittedly isn't that bad with the .45 GAP,) and slightly quicker followup shots.
As you can see in the photos, the Lone Wolf work is identical to the factory "C" model, and the workmanship is excellent. If you'd like an existing gun ported, I'd highly recommend Lone Wolf's work.

Very nice.
I don't know if it's really needed but it looks great
Looks like they did a great job. Did you get them to engrave a C on the side to really confuse people?

That's awesome.
Lone Wolf made my G39c, using a Stock G38 barrel.

I'd love to read the range report.

Thx-1138, how´s the porting work as far as shot recovery?

It helps. Or, I've just gotten so accustomed to shooting the GAP that it doesn't seem snappy to me anymore.
Every range trip, I bring my G39 barrel so I can do some side-by-side comparisons with SD ammo. Every range trip, I forget because I have so much fun just shooting it.
I need to get an unbiased shooter out to the range with it some time so I can get their opinions. Maybe somebody with far more actual shooting experience, who shoots lots of Glocks, isn't a GAPophobe, lives not too terribly far away, and has a chronometer to see if I'm picking up the 25fps I'm guesstimating I should.
No one else at the rifle range today, so we were able to move up to the 25 yd marker and shoot some pistols. No problems with function in the ported gun. I think that the porting reduces the muzzle flip a little bit, but the effect isn't as pronounced as on the 19C (which was to be expected.) Oddly, the porting seemed make more difference in the perceived recoil of the 200gr loads than the 230gr. Perhaps it has to do with higher velocity vs higher weight. I guess I'll have to scrounge up some 185gr...
