View Full Version : Gen 4 G21 - good way to compliment the 3rd Gen G20?
What have you guys heard on the Gen 4 pistols? Are the slides interchangable with previous generations?
If so, I think a 4th gen G21 would be a good companion to the 3rd gen G20. Between the two guns, you could shoot pretty much any common autoloading big bore cartridge and then some:
G20 slide on either Gen 3 frame or Gen 4 frame -
10mm stock
.40 S&W
.357 Sig
9x25 Dillon
That's 8 configurations right there.
G21 slide on either Gen 3 frame or Gen 4 frame -
.45 ACP
.45 Super
.400 Corbon
And 6 more configurations right there.
Fourteen configurations... not too bad for two slides, two frames, and a few conversion barrels.

Call LWD. They make them, but for some odd reason, they don't have them posted on the website.

Very interesting... with the rim diameter of a .38 Super being ~0.405 (and closer to a 9x19mm's 0.393) vs. a 10mm's 0.424 and a .45ACP's 0.476, I'm betting there are some other special parts needed for that combo. Assuming you could use a G20 mag, that would add at least 2 rounds to the capacity of a regular mag and give you something the average guy wouldn't have.

Yep, I have one. Its more of a novelty than an excellent thing. The gentleman at Lone Wolf told me when I called they have it for "competitors and people who know what they are doing."
I'm neither and maybe thats why I can't get it to feed properly. Really the mags are a problem, not the barrel itself. Loading more than a few rounds of .38Super in a 10mm mag causes the bullet tip to point too far vertical for reliable feeding. I've mitigated this by 'squeezing' the front of the mag lips, I can load and feed 5 rounds 100% reliably and 6 is about 98%. My use is a pistol league Camp Perry course of fire so 5 rounds works.
I've had fun with it, and love the .38S round with the heavy spring and a 15lbs spring, but my $0.02 is that its not good enough for serious use.
