View Full Version : Other sight choices for "old style" slide?

I have an MK9 with the "old style" dovetail and "dot the i" sights. They are adequate, but I would like to try something different. The selection of sights offered for the old style is limited.

Is the dovetail a standard cut that other aftermarket sights will fit? What is the proper lingo/spec to describe the cut when searching for alternative sights?

I would like to try low profile fiberoptic sights, at least on the front sight. WHat is the scuttlebutt regarding fiberoptic sights on carry guns in terms of durability, etc?

Still searching. It may be that the front sight dove tail is actually unchanged between the old and new styles, with only the rear changed. I suspect this based on this page from Hiviz, wherein the front sight is allegedly for either style, while the rear sight is for new style only.

I wll update as I find more info, and any input is still welcome and appreciated.

Interestingly, when I put "old style" into the search engine here, I get no hits, even this thread!

I went with the meprolights

I'll update when they arrive.

I wound up in the same boat with my P9. I too went with the meprolights.

In my gun, they shoot a little higher than the old sights, about 2 inches at 15 yards. I just live with it.

I got both my meprolights and wolff 22.5# recoils spring set with the metal guide rods today. Sights went on without a hitch and the springs, well, work, I guess. We'll see if they do anything more than make a quick tap and rack more difficult.

THe sights certainly are an improvement. I found the i dotting less instinctive/comfortable-to-the-eye than lining up three dots.

We'll see if I actually shoot any better, especially at speed.

The Wolf springs are more stout than the factory springs at same weight ratings. For the MK9, you might have better luck with the Wolf 20# set-up.
