Let me start off by saying the G23 is my dream gun. I've wanted it since I first shot it back in 1998. Im finally jumping off the fence 12 years later and can get it from Buds for $494 shipped or get it local for $535 + 5% VA tax.

I called my local FFL's to see if they have Bud's FFL on file and guess what. They are running a special right now.. G19 + (3) Glock factory 15 round mags + Glock factory nights (metal, not plastic!!) for $619.

Should I go for the dream G23.. or get the awesome deal G19. I honestly want both but cant afford it.

Anybody know of a better price on the 23? Or some place selling the 23 with the same special package as the 19 above?

If the 23 is your "dream gun", don't compromise just because you got a good deal. It won't scratch that itch and in the long run, that G23 will be one expensive pistol.

That said, I much prefer the G19 myself.

Well here is the way to go: Join GSSF for the $35.00 dollar yearly fee and wait the few weeks for your membership card to come in the mail and then go to your local Glock dealer (make sure they participate in the GSSF program) and get a G23 for $425.00 plus tax... Now that is a great deal!

If the 23 is your Dream Gun get it.
The deal on the 19 is fine but you will be saying later on I Wish I had Bought The 23
At the present I have two 23's, and want a 19, and a 22.
I am going to sell one of them and then get a 19, the 22 will come later.
I have the 2nd 23 because a deal came up I could not refuse.
You just can't have too many Glocks.

Rusty you're not helping!

The more I think about it, the more Im leaning towards getting the awesome deal on the 19. My reasoning is since they are very similar I can get the 19 now, get an awesome deal with it, and get plenty of practice time with the cheap 9mm ammo.

Then later this summer/fall when the 4th Gen 23's are announced.. I should have saved up enough play money to get one of those. One of my biggest fears is buying the 23 this weekend.. and the 4th Gen 23's come out next month. That would really suck!

Get the g23 if its your dream pistol . You can always go back and get the g19 if you want( I wouldn't). Then get a 9mm conversion barrel to shoot 9mm at the range. If you get the g19 , the day after your going to be sick you didn't get the g23.......you will.

If you have a lot of experience shooting, go with the G23. If not, go with the 19 to get some less expensive practice time in. But I warn you, you'll want to move up to the G23 sooner than you think if you buy the G19.

I had a Beretta 92 for 22+ years but prefer the G19; but I also prefer the G23 over the G19 (wife shoots the 19). The 23 feels like a gun going off in your hand and I have no trouble doing double taps with it.

I much prefer the G19, becasue I'm not big on the 40S&W.

YMMV

I have the G23 and bought a 9mm drop-in conversion barrel AND 9mm mags to play with at the range. I also bought G19 ejector to replace the one on my 23 but, I discovered the original 23 extractor did just fine. The barrel and a couple magazines were under $200. No problems, so I did the same for my S&W M&P .40. I could still get a drop-in sig barrel (the 40 mags work on the 357 sig) but I don't care for that caliber.
Both the conversion barrels can shoot lead.

you can buy cheap 40 ammo for about $2 more per box than 9. Go for the 23.
