local guy selling some reloading goodies on CL...i went by to see him tonight. he had a 3 lb keg of powder, 100 pieces of virgin 45 acp brass, 100 0.452"-200 grain jhp projectiles, a bunch of miscellaneous brass, shotshell primers, and ~25 lbs of #8 shot.
me: "how much do you want for it?"
him: "i dunno, make me an offer."
me: "how about $40 for all of it."
him: "he man, that works for me."
me: :whistling: :embarassed:
ok, so i was mostly interested in the powder, as i am pretty sure it was unopened until i opened it tonight. it is winchester 473aa, which after a little reading, i determined was discontinued about 1990 or so. while it was intended as a shotgun powder, it just so happens i have a speer manual (#11) from 1987 that lists it for both 9mm and 45 acp loads. the data is pretty close to the loadings for unique...and the load data for unique hasn't change substantially when i cross referenced it to my hornady 7th edition. it is also appears to be just slightly faster than unique, according to the rate charts i have seen.
the plan is to use the start load in the speer book for some 9mm 115 grain loads and work up from there. sound reasonable? i'm only about 9 years older than the data, so i just want to make sure i am being reasonable.
