Ok guys I've been looking at this gun? I want a sig but since im still student i dont want to spend that much. Is this gun any good? Why is it under $500? The p250 is around that same price range but I read they have problems. What do you guys think? which one should I go with? Are the p250s problems resolved?

220, 226, or 229 are the better Sig Sauer Pistols.

Save your money.

You get what you pay for.

Cheap price = POS stuff!

Love you like a son so I just had to give you the truth!

Sorry to have to tell you the truth!

Best of Luck.

I agree with mesteve2.. I have a friend that has a 2022 and loves it, but I have other friends that hate them. The 229 is my favorite by far. It is one of my most commonly chosen carry choices.

The 2022 is neither cheap nor a POS. I've owned both, I'd easily recommend the 2022.

The P229 is very nice, but not in any way objectively better than the 2022.

The SP2022 is priced to be competitive in the poly frame pistol category. Due to the popularity and marketing of Glock, M&P and XD, the 2022 has been largely ignored by many, which is shame because it is an outstanding pistol with a proven military and law enforcement track record.

I am not sure what issues you are referring to with the P250. It seems to be a nice platform with interesting features. Given the choice, I would be buying the 2022.

I only have "classic" sigs (220, 228, P6) love them all and shoot them a lot. I handled the 2022 and the 250 but did not have a chance to shoot either. With that as the background, I liked the 2022 but not enough to consider purchasing one. I thought it was a little heavy for a poly pistol. Pointed fine though and had a very good trigger. The 250 I liked a lot. The trigger reminds me of a tuned da revolver. The one I fondled was a .45 so it was a little fat (about like a G30) but its stubby dimension was good. I'm in Maryland so the price was stupid high but I've seen them on the net for around $450.00 last I looked. Bottom line is that I'd add a 250 without hesitation. As far as reported problems go? I wouldn't shy away at this point. NEVER buy a product as soon as it hits the show room. They've shaken out most problems by now and if they haven't then use the warranty and get it fixed. Machines have warrantys because machines break. Glocks, Sigs, S&W, Beretta ALL OF THEM BREAK.

Do your best to get them both to the range, but start with the one that fits your hand better. Then shoot it. Check the warranty and make the buy. They're both good. I've heard good and bad about both and I heard the same crap everytime Sig puts out a new line or updates an old one.

Have shot both 2022 and the 250. Have shot the 239 and 226 - I like the 2022 the best. So much so I bought it and its still one of my favorites!

Good choice, but I don't think you could have gone wrong either way. The P250 is so inexpensive because it's an engineering marvel with fewer parts than any other pistol. I think the P250 is the most under-rated handgun currently on the market. It gets its bum rap in part because it is so inexpensive, but mostly because it's big design departure from Sig's other offerings and we all know how resistant people can be to change.

The P250 had a couple of bugs early on, but relatively few considering it's design is so groundbreaking. It seems they've addressed the issues and the market is responding with the P250 getting some of the contracts they marketed the piece to such as the Federal Air Marshall's.

Newfangled pistols getting law enforcement contracts has absolutely nothing to do with quality, reliability, preference, or anything else of the sort. It has to do with giving guns away so the manufacturer can say that X agency carries X gun. For instance, the North Carolina Highway Patrol was given M&P pistols with holsters and magazine pouches in exchange for buying MP-15 rifles. Their 4-year-old P229 .357s certainly didn't need replacement.

+1, these are nice pistols but Sig like S&W comes out with too many similar guns making this one a little overlooked

I agree with SIGSAREBETTER I own both the 250 and the 2022. They are both terrific guns and compare favorably to high quality guns of any amount of money.

You didn't mention whether you planned on carrying this gun or not. If so, the 250 is lighter by about 5 oz. which becomes significant when carrying every day.

The only complaint I ever hear about the 250 is that people don't like the long DAO trigger. It is soft and sweet, but not for everyone! I also have the Sig 250 Subcompact 9mm, and it is my daily carry.

So the p250 100% reliable?

Both mine have been 100% reliable. In the interest of fairness though, I have not had them for very long. The Subcompact has 300 rounds through it, and the compact has 400 rounds; both have been flawless.

My vote is for this:

I do not like the P250 trigger at all. The ergos are good on the P250.....but the trigger is the show stopper and fatal flaw of the design. I took my SP2022 above out last week and loved it. The accuracy was really nice and the SA trigger was outstanding. I also love the ergos and size of the SP2022....I got it in lieu of a G19 since I did not own a Sig and have several Glocks.

My understanding is that it's not even close and that the 2022 is almost as good as a classic p series and possibly even better since most are still 100% German made.

When you make a statement like "my understanding is" it tells me that your opinion comes from second or third hand information. I have both so I'm giving you first hand information. My 2022 is JUST as good as any classic Sig. And, if you like DOA, there is no finer gun than the P250!

I think it comes down to wanting a DAO or DA/SA pistol. They are both good weapons.

True. I have the 2022, 226 and 228 but not the 250.

If left with only the choice of the two listed 2022 all the way. It's a Sig with a polymer frame. Works the same way as the classic Sigs. Has a great trigger and is very accurate. I don't care for the 250 myself.
