Picked up a box of the Federal Champion 9mm $9.97 tonight as ususal, and was suprised to see the RWS 124grain 9mm ball marked down from $16.97 to $12.97 !!!! As far as plinking and target shooting it has been said to be a more accurate round, and WWB is priced $13.97/50 or $23.97/100 So the RWS isn't looking too bad. Gonna pick up a few boxes next week, though the Federal Champion is good to go through my G17!
Edit: Can anybody give me the FPS of these? Are they loaded to Euro specs= +P for here??

That's a big price drop. It probably wasn't selling at all at $16.97.
WWB is ok but the cases have some kind of coating that makes my fingers dirty from loading the rounds.
I just bought 3 boxes yesterday. Can't wait to test it.

Let us know what you think, compared to whatever plinking ammo you were shooting before.

Just shows how much room there is in the price.
I've been buying my plinking rounds at Big R for $11.50/50 , since Wallys raised the WWB price. Not much savings, but hoping to vote with the pocketbook.

Will do.

I bought a couple of boxes of RWS today.
I just know I'm gonna hit the 10 ring every shot I take now!

Actually my model 17 prints its groups a little high with 115 grain Federal Champions. I was thinking of shooting the RWS to see if it is "dead on" at close range.

I bought 7 boxes of the RWS. I finally had a chance to test it last night. I put 50rds through my G19 gen2 and 50rds through my G26. Very clean ammo. Also pretty accurate. I like the ammo a lot more than WWB. WWB was actually a dollar more per box. I try not to shoot to much WWB because it is dirty and seems underpowered. The RWS is better ammo in my opinion. It is also worth the $13 Walmart sells it for.
My Wal-Mart still has RWS for $16.97 :crying:
Yeah my walmart has rws for $12.97. Picked up a box for the stash.

The price dropped $4 in my neck of the woods last week. This is great ammo, accurate and functions very well. Shot some during a range session comparing it to Remington 115 grain Green box, the RWS definitely has more recoil indicating to me that it's loaded to Euro. spec.

Saw the price drop locally in the Indianapolis area last night while picking up fed .40 for range day today. Fed .9mm was $9.47 so I won't be buying any RWS unless there is no other .9mm in the display case.
Thanks for the heads up...going to buy some now.

No one touched it at the higher price. When it dropped to $12.95 per box I thought why buy the Winchester that was more expensive in the 50 round boxes. Fired 100 rounds of it. Had one not go off on the first hit (some Euro ammo is known for hard primers). Went on the second. The rest was very accurate and seemed to be pretty clean. For the cheaper price I'd buy more.

Picked up a few boxes from WM for the 12.95 price. Shot a box yesterday with my PPS - not one problem, shot clean and accurate. Going back for more today! btw - they had lots of it.
friend of mine, that is really, really into ammo; says this is great stuff and was buying it up at the higher price point. he's going nuts now.

They are 124 grains of goodness.
Interesting......I, too, have enjoyed several boxes of RWS....espcially when WalMart dropped the price down to $12.97....
So, today, as I'm heading to the range, I stop by a super WalMart here in Aurora, CO.......and there aren't any on the shelf......just Winchester 9mm NATO at same price..$12.97 a box for 50....
So, I ask the sporting goods clerk and he says that there won't be any more Orange and Black box RWS ammo....it was a one time purchase by WalMart.....they couldn't move it at $16.97.....so they dropped the price by $4 to clear inventory.
He said it has a 'No-restocking--no resupply' in the computer on this item.
Now......I thought that was interesting......and I have nothing to base his comments against........anyone else hear something similar?
Anyway, I bought 6 boxes of the Winchester NATO 124gr........and, it shot AWESOME.....CLEAN, SNAPPY and my G17 ate them up like jellybeans......I shot 200 before packing up for the day...
Very pleased with these as they felt (to me at least) exactly like the RWS 124gr. did......
Sincerely,
Stan

I've put 5 boxes of it through my G17 at the 16.97 price. That was the only 9mm that the big W had and it was cheaper than anywhere else in town (next lowest was 19.99.) I hope they don't discontinue it it, as it seemed like very quality stuff and they had no problem selling it down here. When I first saw it and purchased they had about 200 boxes on the shelves, gone the next day. I haven't seen the NATO spec at Wally, but have put a lot of it through my G17 in both the plain box and Ranger packaging. Great stuff!
This is great ammo. Accurate and pretty hot. However, it is magnetic and thus won't be allowed at some ranges. I tested it in store w/ a magnet from the kitchen area. I read somewhere that it's not a steel core, but some sort of steel coating under the copper. Regardless, this ammo will spark on steel so don't start a wild fire with it ;-)

The 124gr FMJ is rated at 1181fps. Out of what length barrel, I have no clue.

It sent sparks flying everywhere at an indoor range when the bullet impacted the ground far downrange. Quite a show.
