I bought this pistol grip at a gunshow and was told it fit a Moss 500. I got to install it and it doesn't quite fit. The bottom portion slot is too narrow for the receiver of the shotgun. It looks similar but won't work.

I know it is not for a Winchester or a Rem 870 and can't think what else it might fit.

If anyone know what this grip fits let me know because I am confused at this point.

I think the spirit of your shotgun is telling you something? It hates pistol grips!!! lol

Seriously though, it does look like it should all line up? Dont know whats wrong? Maybe you need a little sand paper?

The boss on the pistol grip is different from my nylon butt stock. Yours is bigger and is not hollowed to allow the stud on the reciever to set into the boss, look closely at your old stock and compare with a ruler and you will see the wood stock has a smaller boss. ;)

500A (12GA) and 500 B (20GA) are different. I believe you will find this is your problem. Looks like a 20 GA grip and a 12 GA gun. Notice the gun has a ring shaped detent and the grip is filled in solid so it won't seat into the gun's receiver above the trigger group.

I think that might be the answer. I kept thinking that it was for another brand of shotgun but I can't think of one that looks like this. I thought maybe it was for an Ithaca but don't have one to compare.

Sounds very likely to me...

Based on the OP's pics, Blitzer is correct. The ring on the grip where the grip and receiver meets and where the screw goes through the center of is not the same size as the ring on the receiver.

That is true. I guess I should have included a pic of my buttstock as well to show the differences between them.

So, it seems I have a Mossberg pistol grip, it is just for a 20ga. That is why I hate gunshows. Seems like everytime I buy something there, it is either the wrong item or defective. At first glance, it looked like a Mossberg pistol grip to me and I didn't even think that a 20ga would be different. 20ga didn't even enter my mind because I only have 12ga guns.
