Made by mating an old style (aka MkII) 22/45 lower and bolt to an actual MkII 10" (MK10) upper. So far the only "mod" is a Clark hammer bushing and sear pin, although I am sending it to VQ to have the upper tightened to the lower, and having them install a trigger and sear while there.

I put 350 rounds through it, and it was perfectly reliable and very accurate. I was surprised at how much quieter it is than my 5.5" 22/45, both shooting the same ammo.

Very cool, I love franken guns. That's a nice stack of ammo too! How much difference do you find between the SK and the Fed from the Mkll?

Never seen a 10" tapered barrel like that. The 10" MKII's I've seen had a bull barrel on them.

Actually, all the 10" MkII's are a tapered bull. None are a consistent diameter from end to end.

The one I remember shooting that belonged to a buddy of mine back in the mid 1980's had a bull barrel full length.

This one doesn't look tapered:

Nor is this one:

I can't find any other photo's of 10" Ruger MKII's that are tapered like the OP's. Maybe it's just the angle of his photo that makes it look more tapered.

Your first pic is pretty clearly tapered if you look closely. I blew it up in MS Paint, and drew two parallel lines starting from the barrel to muzzle intersection, and it clearly shows green carpet towards the muzzle.

Here is another photo of the same upper on the original lower:

I think the shadow from the flash exaggerates the taper in the OP, but they all taper from .875 to .750.

Really like those 10 inchers! I like the stainless ones the best.

yeah I think the first photo makes it look like there is a lot more taper on the barrel.

I got the pistol back from Volquartsen. They are so awesome! $115 to tighten the upper to lower fit, install a sear and trigger, including return overnight shipping. Trigger pull came in at 1 pound 15 ounces, average of 5 pulls.

This is the best of five 10-shot groups, from a rest, at 25 yards.

I was talking to Scott Volquartsen about comps a while back. He said the reason that they don't make them for the 10 inch barrels is that there is too much variation in muzzle diameter to manufacture a one-size-fits-all product. They'd tried but finally gave it up as a no-go.

Bummer.
