Thought I would bid on this - didn't think I would actually win:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=166568247
Talked to the seller this morning and he didn't put a reserve price because he figured it would go for at least $1600...He was a little disappointed to say the least but was super nice about it and basically said "well, today is your lucky day, bud.."
Didn't think i would get a NIB TRP for $1075...Can't wait to get it.

He shoots, he scores! Well played sir. Congrats on a sweet pistola.
Congrats on a great deal!
If you're patient and attentive, you can find some great deals on GB.
That's how I got my Kimber Pro Aegis for $975.

Holy smokes, Congrats!
Good for you and I guess the seller learned a hard lesson, I don't see many selling on GB for $1600, most run around $1300 to $1400 new. Here locally they run $1600. You got a great deal, or should I say steal.
Awesome deal my friend:supergrin:

Maybe he got taken!

Yeah, every once in a while you can steal something on Gunbroker. Its a combination of a weak seller and just some good luck.
Can't wait to see pics. :)
Wow. Sweet deal. I'm very jealous.

Thought I would throw up some pics...Shot it last week - had 1 FTF in 150 rounds but was using the mags that came with it. Should receive my CMC power mags today...
Also, I am new to the 1911 - I've only had Glocks. What are some things I can do to customize this a little to make it better than it already is?

Looks great. :)
As far as customizing is concerned, what about it do you want to improve? The TRP is one of the best production 1911s available.

Your new TRP is perfect as is. I would not do anything to it.
You lucky bast'id! :wow:
The TRP is high up on my short list. For $1000 I'd buy 2 and unload one to pay for the other! ;). I wish! Good luck with it man, awesome 1911.

You just bought a Mercedes Benz AMG, sure there are Porsche and Ferrari out there, but you don't need to customize anything else.
Great find @ a super price...
I just got a TRP in AK a few days ago... (traded a $900 bolt gun for it) best 1911 I've owned so far. I might change out the guide rod to a one piece, just for ease of takedown. Just get some good magazines and ammo and have some fun.

You could always send it to Springfield Custom for an upgraded barrel and some trigger work. You could even have them go all the way with their Professional conversion.
Being that its a TRP, I recommend you send it to Springfield Custom. They do some of the best work around anyway.

like this?
This Springfield TRP is a very nice custom 1911. It started out as a factory TRP gun with a checkered front strap, Novak night sights, ambi safety, extended mag well, front and rear cocking serrations, etc. It was then sent back to the factory and had $710 worth of Custom Shop work done. It has had a Nowlin match barrel and bushing added, custom fit frame to slide, replaced slide stop and safety, custom match hammer and sear, 3.5 lb trigger, and completely refinished in Armory Kote. It includes the factory box and 3 Wilson ETM 8 round mags.

I took bac1023's advice and purchased one. I use it as a duty gun.
The only thing I did was to go to a one piece, full length guide rod.
Runs like a champ......It I can see it, I can hit it, within 100 yards
Some of my co workers think the grip is too agressive....but, I love it
It is your gun, do what you want with it :wavey:

A great pistol and even better price! I wouldn't make any changes, it's an excellent pistol as is.

How do you like the front grip? A local gunstore has a ss trp for $1250. but I was hesitant due to the front grip. Nice looking gun though, congrats.

Love the grip. Takes a little getting used to as it is a bit more abrasive than what I'm used to but fits my hand perfectly. Definitely the favorite of my collection, hands down.

They are factory grips on the older TRP's. my old SS TRP had them too.

Are the higher end SA frames made in Brazil also? I have a Loaded version that's why I was asking.

all Springfield start from IMBEL forgings.
i've heard that the EMP's are forged in the US, though i haven't confirmed this.
and some more info

It's no secret that Springfield's pistols are made in Brazil and the Milspec gun comes into this country complete and ready to go. Guns destined to become Loaded pistols come in without a grip safety or sights. Those are installed in Springfield's Illinois factory.
Springfield has set up a CNC machine to do the frame modifications needed for the beavertail. Both models are marked "FI (made in) Brazil."
When we step up to the Trophy Match it is a very different gun, although the appearance is very much like the Loaded pistols. For the Trophy Match, only a partially machined frame is imported. The magazine well and most of the internal cuts are done, but there are no rail cuts at all. Springfield machines these on their CNC equipment.
N = Brazil
NM = >50% of the work done in the US

Hi,
I went with the Wilson Full Length Guide Rod. Stainless .

You can do that stuff to a Mil-Spec. Leave your TRP as is.
