I piucked up a little 3x9X40mm NcStar scope at a gunshow I thought I could put on my Marlin 80DL. As it turns out the mount on the Marlin is just a set of narrow grooves cut into the receiver. I suppose this would be a "dovetail" style is that correct?

Anyway, the scope has a set of rings to mount to what I think is a Weaver style mounting system. Is there an adapter I can get to allow me to put the scope on my rifle or do I have to specifically use a scope with the mounting system the rifle came with?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Just buy a set of 3/8" dovetail rings. They are often called Rimfire Rings.

Your other option is to buy a 3/8" to weaver adapter.

Thanks for the reply, I think I found some rings locally that will make things work for me.
