WHERE???? WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE FINDING ALL THESE NEW RTFS ! ! ! ! ! !??!?!?!?!!?

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

I just bought a new 21RTF from Aim Surplus, it's in-transit as I write this. From the picture, looks like straight gills. RTF's work better for me in SFl's humid climate, I don't buy them for the collector value.

Anyone ever get their gills machined to improve grip? basically trying to machine regular vertical serrations over the gills - sort of like a cent sign

UncleDD,

I used to carry my Gill G19, way to aggressive, the grip finish, had to dremel the heck out of it. If you intend to shoot it a lot, replace the trigger with a smooth one, gets rough on the trigger finger.

I asked Glock why the gills were backward? That was a long while ago, never did get an answer.

Great shooter, TruGlow fiber optic sights, they are on all my Glocks.

My CCW G19Gen4, major pain in the butt, till they finally got the MSA right, good luck with your new pistol.

Carrying the RTF Gill Glock 19. Right off the bat, the texture is so rough, it rubs your side/tee shirt.

Out came the dremel, ground it to bits, basically the left side is smooth, I also ground some bits off, here and there.

It is my go to spare if my Gen4 G19 has any work required (as in sending slide back for new inserts for my TruGlow fiber optics).

Cost me the shipping, plus a check for $12-50, shipped back to me free. WOW, so bright now.

You said that you had a problem with the standard Gen 4 mag catch. I was pointing out that the Vickers catch I have in the pic is rounded, and not a standard catch that apparently you had an issue with.

I don't have problems with the catch and I also don't have a problem carrying a RTF2 everyday.

For about a year now I've been using this holster to protect me from my daily carry G19 RTF2. It does the job and it's cheap at $15.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-RHV0YqyQDqo/UYhWJXOoB9I/AAAAAAAABUg/jLTcZwqOwqc/s640/DSCF0096.jpg

It makes me cringe when I hear of folks grinding the texture off. :wow:

Sorry about my desecration of my RTF Glock 19, but to me it is just a gun. Your holster would not suit me, you have to unsnap it! My every day carry is a Gen 4 Glock 19, with TruGlo fiber optic night sights, just had the green fiber strips replaced, they last a couple of years at full brightness, were still bright in daylight, but dimming in the dark.

After totally stripping my Gen 4 down, to clean it, it developed a little click in the trigger (some gunk in the firing pin channel?) so I am back to the RTF. Will fix it when I can.

They both work flawlessly. My Son owns a Security Company, I work the odd hour for him, so in uniform, complete with radio, IDPA speed holster. But normally a cut down Glock holster, under a shirt, for every day carry.

The Glock selections I see lined up here, very nice. Mine are working guns. Live in a holster, or as now, on the night table. Still love my Glocks.

I hate to see it, but I will survive. ;)
It is just a gun, and a Glock is more of an appliance than others.

As for my holster, it's cheap but not ideal. Truly the best I've found is made by N8 Squared.

My RTF G19 locks up very tight, as the slide is pulled back, as in unloading, tighter than any of my other Glock pistols?

It does not make it any easier that the curves face the wrong way.

Hi all. I joined the forum to say thanks for the resource and add my RTF2 to the list. My brother in law, a deputy sheriff, was looking to sell his G23 and I figured it was a blue label when he said it had 3 mags. It wasn't until I got home that I saw the curved serrations and did some research, ending up here, that I even knew what an RTF2 was.

It's test fire date is 11/23/09 and serial starts with NYV.

I'm happy to see they are desirable and it makes $350 an even better price than I had thought. It's in excellent condition and I don't think he ever carried it. Not interested in selling it, for those who's wheels are turning.

Thanks again

Also, I've noticed that pretty much all of the RTF2's are 2009-2010 test fire dates.

Jan 2011 seems a little late. The OP mentions a 14 month run starting in May 2009 which would put the end of production around July 2010.

My basis for the length of run of the gilled RTF2's is a GLOCK announcement of RTF2's changing back to regular straight serrations around mid-2010. I speculate that at that time GLOCK stopped producing the gilled RTF2's but had old stock that were NOT released yet and were NOT test fired at Smyrna, GA till much later than June 2010, hence units with test fire date as late as Jan 2011.

I thought this was intersting. Not sure of OD RTF2 frames are common but I saw this on GB. Not a Gillie slide and I was aware of 21 RTF2 framed guns with straight slides but did not know there were any RTF2 textures in anything but black.

Apologies if this has been discussed. I'm short on time and wanted to post this before I forgot.

QB

I think it's aftermarket.......aren't all the cases marked OD if that's the way they originally came (mine are)???

What I mean is the frame was painted/coated third party.....it was not originally OD from Glock factory.

Dave514
09-10-2013, 14:07
Well, the number on the frame seems to match the number on the box label so I think it all goes together but I don't know as much about all that as some people so I could be mistaken about how that works.

ale
09-10-2013, 14:15
It appears that frame was painted OD green. You can see the black showing through in some spots if you look close.

Dave514
09-10-2013, 14:24
Yeah, now that you mention it, the description says "THE OD GREEN FINISH ON THE BLACK POLYMER RTF FRAME IS 98% AND WE ALWAYS TRY TO POINT OUT ANY FLAWS WE CAN SEE"

Did they used to paint them from the factory or is that someone doing it to their own gun? I thought ODs and FDEs were that color throughout the material so that might explain why I've not seen a RTF2 in anything but black.

No they do not paint Glocks at the factory. The factory OD and FDE weapons are made with that color of polymer.

What are the acceptable mods on an RTF2 G19?

I could never bring myself to stipple it. But are grip plug, night sights, smooth trigger install, and trigger job acceptable on the rare glocks?

Or is it frowned upon by glock enthusiasts, and seen as "defacing a mona-lisa?"

Fill your boots!

I carry mine, so rough, the finish, I dremeled it to bits, chewing up my cloths, and hands, shot it in an IDPA match on Sunday. Has extended slide release, factory, TruGlo fiber optic sights, butt plug, 3.5 connector. Glock 19RTF2.

Guy lived 3 hours away and said he would meet me half way. Very poor communication. He did not get back to me after a few calls. This lasted for about 10 days back and forth. He then said I would have to drive 3 hours to him but also has other offers. He then would randomly text me but not return my message. I gave up eventually but long story short he drove my way 2 weeks later for a Bowl game and I met him on his way through. It was a nightmare but snagged it.

This is probably an understatement of the hassle. It was a very inconvenient transaction, but worth it? Hell yeah.

Went from $700 to $740 since he stated he drove it to me. Blah blah, didn't care about the $40 at this point. Beats driving 3 hours. Wouldn't have paid that much but for one brand new in blue label box, unfired. Worth the premium. My other set me back $575 which is LNIB.

Nice score, what did you end up getting it for?

I found a G19 RTF2 but it does not have the gills. I kind of wanted a gill variety to go with my G17 Gill.

Was there very many G19 RTF2 without gills made???

These rtf2's are becoming harder to find every day, specially in specific calibers. Hard to let one go after waiting a grip to find one. Nice score on your 17 and can understand that this one is a keeper. No fun having instant regrets when you let a legit firearm go.

Not sure what brand. I bought that rtf with a few upgrades from previous owner. It is weighted though and gives nice balance when shooting. Middle one is the new in box blue label. 3rd one back is a new in box red label.

I forgot about the slide release. I put the slide release on. I do that to all of them as soon as I get them. I have a bag of those ext slide releases I got in bulk. I hate the regular slide release. I have carpal tunnel in both hands so it helps to have the extended releases. I don't consider that an upgrade because it is genuine Glock so I just don't count it. But, you are correct. it came with the regular release.

I like the Hogue because it fills out the grip in my hand and again, helps with the carpal tunnel. They are ugly as sin though.

Top weapon in pic:

Looks like you need to open the pad up a little on the slide stop. Looks like it is rubbing on your frame and preventing it from fully seating, causing that weird angle (which I think the other guy is referring to).

I think my pic just caught it at a weird angle, as they both function as they are supposed to. But ill look into it further, thanks for the insight, its much appreciated.

I see far more .40s than Nines. Based on my experience, probably the most common would be the G23, then G22, then G17. I don't think I've ever seen G19 RTF2 w/gills in person, only in pics.
