I recently noticed that some of the nickel plating on the internals of my Glock 21 are starting to flake off. Is this anything to be concerned about? The gun hasn't ever malfunctioned and everything is working fine? Is there any need to replace the parts that are doing this? Thanks.

The nickel flakes because the base metal varies. Really, there is no worries or reason to replace unless it shows signs of rust. You can usually polish the flaked area lowering the rough edge so that it is hardly noticeable.

Thanks for the info. I kind of figured that much but I just wanted to be sure. It never hurts to ask the expert. If you don't mind another question, is the striker in the Glock's stainless steel or is it hardened steel with the plating as well?

Unfortunately I do not know the current material used.
I have noticed several changes in striker material over the years.
FYI: If the striker is plated I guarantee it is not stainless.

Thanks again JR. By the way, I love your Glock reference guide! It is a product well done! :wavey:
