View Full Version : Bullgod XL variant
i just finished a batch of kwaiken style knives. this particular photo came out well. just thought i would share. this blade has black cotton wrap over burgundy alligator underlay. looks more striking in person.
Very nice
Do you have a website?
thank you, yes, my website is liontribedesigns.com.
good looking knife. Nice job on the wrap aswell.
thanks, it is not a traditional wrap. i used a modified strider wrap as i wanted it to have a post-modern look to it. a neo tribal apocalyptic look if you will.
Archangle- That is SUPER SWEET
one day when I get my big boy britches maybe I could afford one.
thank you, sir. that is a big stinker in this down economy. custom made knives are not a first priority. :crying: that is why i try to keep my prices down to earth. thanks for looking.
I'm having some trouble making your website come up. Could you post a link?
not sure how to make a hot link. i just tried it and it popped right up for me. strange.

Nice knife, AA. Tell me more about W-2 steel and specs on this bad-boy vs. the regular Bullgod.
i made the prototype from W-2 because i love the way it takes an acid etch. it has an almost 3D effect to the metal. it is an oil quenched tool steel that when heat treated right has great edge holding qualities. it can also be water quenched, but i have not tried that yet. this XL variant is just that, XL. the prototype for sale on my website is 8" OAL and this one is 9" over all. this one is also slimmer. the original BullGod is over a quarter inch thick at the ricasso and this one is slimmer and longer. i used 3/16" stock on the XL versions. i made a batch of four and this is the only XL left. i made all of these from 1095 high carbon steel. the thickness of the prototype was a bit overkill for a knife this size. the XL version is lighter and livelier in the hand. i really enjoy making this design. i may incorporate other japanese inspired blades in the future.
