View Full Version : What do the letters mean?
Can anyone tell me, or point me to where I can find out, what the meaning is for the letters in the Sig model numbers? SCT, BSS, SAS. It makes it a real quagmire when you're trying to shop for a P229 and compare prices. Somewhere there must be a reference of some kind. Help!
Never hurts to actually look at the company website.

Been there many times. I have never found an explaination for the designations. If you could tell me where that is on the site, it would be appreciated.

I don't know all of them, but here are some:
BSS = "Blue," "Siglite Nightsight" -- blue gun with siglite nightsight.
SSS = "Stainless Steel," and "Siglite Nightsight"
(you get the idea, the "SS" usually stands for siglite nightsight
SAS - "Sig Anti-Snag" -- sig with their custom shop's "melt job" to melt away the sharp corners. We have a few of these and like the way they look, but functionally they really don't do much more than your standard frame/slides.
SCT - I believe this stands for "super capacity tactical" version, meaning extended mag with extra rounds on "tactical" slides.
