Has anybody shot a large quantity of regular rifled slugs in a rifled shotgun barrel? Do they lead up the rifling terribly or is that just a theory? I have shot a few and haven't noticed any leading. I know they were designed for sabot slugs but regular slugs are actually quite accurate at 50 yds.

Mixed answer.
It's not a theory, slugs CAN leave lead deposition in the grooves of a rifled bore, and you can expect at least a minor buildup if you shoot a lot of them between cleanings.

How much depends on the softness or hardness of the slug, its construction, and how smooth or rough the rifling is.

Rifled shotgun bores were not designed strictly for sabots, they've been used with a variety of lead slugs for quite a while before the saboted bullets many hunters use today came into widespread use.
Regular slugs should be quite accurate out to at least 100 yards in a rifled bore, and not bad at the same distance in a non-rifled barrel.
