I believe the auction just started. At that price with the 1.5" option, it will not last. Looks brand new. Its one of Baer's finest 1911s.

I've got the same exact model and its one of my most accurate 1911s.

Somebody grab it! :wow:

Nice, and about $700-$800 less than new.

If I were a Baer fan, I'd be really tempted. Hell, I'm not a Baer fan and I'm still a little tempted!

Actually, with the hard chrome finish and 1.5" option, you would be lucky to get one for $2800-$2900.

Here's a new model:

I noticed the same thing. Normally that would keep me from bidding on it. His buys are spread out over several months though, so it seems unlikely that he built the account to make a fraudulent sale. If the buys were all within a month or two I would be a lot more worried.

Pretty much. I don't know that there's that much quality difference, and the WC likely is a better finished gun cosmetically speaking. Where the Baer really shines is the "hard fit" barrel and bushing, and (for me, at least) a certain character or soul that a pistol that's largely hand fit/finished exhibits.

I can't afford to have all my heart desires 1911-wise, and so my money will be directed towards those for which I yearn the most. Frankly, the name Baer will likely appear on the majority of my future 1911's.

I can't see frankly how a 1911 can really get substantially better than a 1.5" group SRP in hard chrome. Near bulleye accuracy, dead nuts reliability, longevity pretty much unrivaled in all of handgundom, and even a super durable and attractive finish. For my grubby mitts, there's just something about a Les Baer.

Could go either way but I would side the the CQB. Now if you are unhappy with the CQB then by all means do it but if the CQb has served you well why trade?

I could be biased, my TRS Comanche was a great gun (sold it) but was not that great a gun as to make me want to keep it after I got a Brown, I have a Wilson on order now. My Baer ejector was smashed within 200 rounds to the point it had to be changed so I was not that impressed with the build quality. Not to say at all that Baer are not world class 1911s (they are) but my experience was somewhat disappointing. I happen to pick up a Para LTC (in that ugly dark blue color LOL) the same month I got the Baer and thru the first 1000 rds each the Para and the Baer were in a dead heat reliability wise, the Baer just did not like any type of JHPs I tried whereas the LTC had it's issues with FMJs & JHPs.

All that being said it seems like a sweet deal but the limited amounts of transactions the guy has plus the too sweet price seem a wee bit scary. Well crap I just saw that it sold already so I wasted my post! :)

I personally think an SRP with the guarantee is a nicer gun than the Wilson.

Its not quite as refined, so to speak, but its incredibly tight and very well built.

I have both.

You know, OM, I'm starting to agree.

When I first started buying and shooting high end 1911s, Baers just didn't do it for me compared to some of the more flashy semi custom 1911s. I always knew they were very well built, but never appreciated them like they deserve to be.

That's all changed now and I truly think Baer may build the best all around 1911 in the semi custom market. They're very tight, tough as nails, and have nothing you don't need. They're also some of the most accurate on the market at any price range.

I'd like to get myself both a TRS and an Ultimate Master at some point, to go with my SRP and Concept V.

It's a good thing I didn't read Ruggles' post until after I made the purchase...

Seriously, after consulting with my accountant (better half), I/we couldn't pass on it. I've spoken to the gentleman and everything checks out. It seems not so long ago (March 18th) that I was asking about Willis68's SRP. Since then I've spent way too long researching them. I've now got 2 options: 1 - sell either the CQB or the SRP after it arrives, or 2 - sell plasma/seed/special favors to come up with the $2k I just spent because my wife really wants my CQB.
