Benchmade 741 Onslaught. Just picked one up. 4.28in of razor sharp 154cm right out of the box. The g10 scales are smooth but the finger indents do more than enough to lock your hand in place and in my opinion gives you plenty of room to get to the deployment hole.

The 741 is the first AXIS lock Bob Lum design. Deployment of the blade is extremely smooth and fast. I was expecting it to be fairly slow because the blade is so big but it's not. The AXIS lock is great as always with zero blade play in any direction.

The 154cm blade is ffg below an interesting looking swedge. The blade has alot of belly to it and is very thin towards the tip. It should be a great slicer. The deployment hole is new to me, I'm used to thumb studs, but I like it enough.

All of the metal on the knife ,except for the blade, is blacked out or black nickeled. I like the look quite a bit. The pocket clip is righthand tip up only, and it is huge. The knife has to be around 9in open and maybe 3/4in thick so it is fairly large, you notice it in your pocket.

Anyway, just bored and figured I'd brag about a new knife. Still like my 710 better.

I switched to a 741 recently for EDC as well. Love the knife overall. I normally carry an AFCK or Emerson CQC-8 but the 741 really has my attention so far. Might have found my perfect EDC here!

Can't wait for mine. I have it on order, one of my other BM knives is on back-order and is holding up my entire order including the 741 onslaught. My lum 760 Ti is enroute. I heard the onslaught opens up quick w/ release of axis lock and quick flick of wrist. Knives this big usually open w/ flick of wrist b/c so much of the weight is on the blade. I don't think engineers designed the knife with this intention it's just the laws of physics.

The blade on the 741 is fairly thin and at least on mine you can't open it by releasing the lock and flicking your wrist. I've not really spent a lot of time trying and maybe it's my lack of technigue more than anything else, YMMV. I can flick the blade open with my thumb quite easily.

My only complaint with mine is that I wish the blade was a little thicker. IMO, going with 0.125 thickness instead of 0.121 would have added alittle more weight and strength to the edge of the blade.
