View Full Version : HK P2000 rubber mag. base pads
I have a HK P2000 and my mags have factory mags w/ finger ext. and are made of plastic. I went to a range and a DHS CBP Officer was shooting his duty HK P2000 next to me and his gun had same factory mags but his base plates were made of rubber not plastic. He said that when you drop your mags on the ground the plastic plates have been known to crack so CBP asked HK to have base pads made of rubber. Does anyone have a source for these HK rubber base plates. I also understand HK makes flat base plates to make the gun more concealable. Anybody have on-line sources?? thanks.

It sounds like you have the flat baseplates, and the officer had the extended baseplates.
However, I am not aware of HK making any "change", as they are just simply two different types of baseplates and both have been available since before the CBP contract existed.
I have never had a baseplate crack and I am usually dropping my magazines directly onto a concrete floor, but I can also see how the rubber lip on the extended plates would cushion some of the shock.
Not sure about the P2000, but I have a USPc .40 that came with two 10 round mags both with plastic baseplates. However, when I bought some "hi-cap" 12 round mags separately, they all came with rubber baseplates. I'm pretty sure Midway USA sells H&K baseplates if your looking to swap yours out.
There are rubber and there are plastic....my 2000 came with rubber.
Try topgunsupply for your HK and Sig needs.
Thanks for the input fellas. I will check out those sources. I am have the plastic base plates w/ ext. I am looking to buy same ones but made of rubber. Also looking to pick up one flat base plate for ultra conceal carry.
