Got my new CED M2 chrono running*. It's quite easy to use after looking at the manual a few times. Since my Shooting Chrony is the version without memory, my only problem now is to remember to push the store-string button and note in my log which string is for which load. (The string # is set by the chrono and is not customizable.)
I shot again the Speer and Fiocchi loads. Chrono screens were set at average distance of 10 feet, sample size was 10 shots each.
Speer Gold Dot 125g. GoldDot LE load #54234. This is the one that's supposed to be loaded to 25FPS higher than the commercial load. Temp c. 90d.F. 1372FPS, SD 7. (Results from Chrony were 1371 and 11.)
Fiocchi 124g. XTP load, temp c. 100d.F. 1327FPS, SD 24. (Chrony results were 1306, SD 3, sample size only 5.)
The CED has indicated rational numbers EVERY time I've shot thru it, during 2 trips. The Chrony would do that only 80 - 90% of the time in bright sunlite, which we have a lot in the Arizona desert.
Still haven't resolved my shooting-in-the-dark problem in respect of fotografing muzzle flash; I hope I can.
* FedEx crushed, almost beyond recognition, the carton of the 1st one Graf & Sons shipped. Graf did a fine job of shipping a replacement on a Friday afternoon, which arrived TWO business days later.
