Got my new CED M2 chrono running*. It's quite easy to use after looking at the manual a few times. Since my Shooting Chrony is the version without memory, my only problem now is to remember to push the store-string button and note in my log which string is for which load. (The string # is set by the chrono and is not customizable.)

I shot again the Speer and Fiocchi loads. Chrono screens were set at average distance of 10 feet, sample size was 10 shots each.
Speer Gold Dot 125g. GoldDot LE load #54234. This is the one that's supposed to be loaded to 25FPS higher than the commercial load. Temp c. 90d.F. 1372FPS, SD 7. (Results from Chrony were 1371 and 11.)

Fiocchi 124g. XTP load, temp c. 100d.F. 1327FPS, SD 24. (Chrony results were 1306, SD 3, sample size only 5.)
The CED has indicated rational numbers EVERY time I've shot thru it, during 2 trips. The Chrony would do that only 80 - 90% of the time in bright sunlite, which we have a lot in the Arizona desert.

Still haven't resolved my shooting-in-the-dark problem in respect of fotografing muzzle flash; I hope I can.

* FedEx crushed, almost beyond recognition, the carton of the 1st one Graf & Sons shipped. Graf did a fine job of shipping a replacement on a Friday afternoon, which arrived TWO business days later.

just curious, but how do those #'s compare to the stock 4" length...?

does the polygonal process, create a better bore seal and thus higher velocity...close/equal to an extra 1/2" of traditional...?

Have you chronographed any of the Hornady Custom loads? I was really hoping Fiocchi would hit the advertised 1400 fps.

No. The highest velocity I've ever seen from a 357SIG's 124/125g. bullets was a bit over 1500 from one of an early series with 800-X. The fastest factory load of the few I've tested was the 125g. GD #54234.

And Brent, I'll test the original barrel next range trip.

Guess I'm going to have to start working on a PD load. I want the XTP and out of my G33 it looks like handloading is the only way it will top 1350fps.

I have a bunch of data using several-different powders and the XTP 124. E-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net and I'll send you pics of my reloading log.

Just found and bought at Sportsman's Warehouse a 50box of Winchester (WB) '357 SIG 125 GR. JHP Personal Protection' ammo...

'Twas only $35 per 50, so if the bullet stays together, this can be a good-and-inexpensive PD round.

Will be testing it soon.

Sportsman's closed all their stores in my area a while back, sucks too cause I could get all my reloading supplies there. You sent me the load data a couple of months ago, I was just crossing my fingers for a factory load that did what I wanted in the G33 for carry. Just like my hunting loads, looks like if I want it done right I'll have to do it myself.

I got a box of those WWB HP's and they are not too bad. shoot into a puddle of mud, the bullet did not have any jacket core separation.
I also came across some Win RAnger T's, which I have a vid of shooting them into a ham... massive damage. perfect T bullet recovered. now I could post it, if I my damn computer would open the file... I'll try again.

Hello Jeffrey, did you get a chance to test the WWB hollow point ? I am interested because it turns out this is the only HP ammo available here right now.

Much appreciated
