Thanks!!!

That is a Wilson Combat Classic Longslide. IIRC they were made for only a few years in the early 2000's. I sold my Sig TTT and bought the Wilson for a steal. I saw a new Wilson Longslide that was made in a small run for a dealer and they were asking ~$3500 for them. i paid well under 1/2 of that

I honestly don't know what he does but I have three theories:

1) Since his sign on is BAC, he works some high level job at Bank of America

2) He's a professional photographer

3) He's a carpet store owner  (hence the really nice carpet in each picture)

Yeah, just like that. My 1991A1 Colt Government model has everything but the Stainless mag well. All I need to do is change out the mag release and safety on my Kimber, that even has a stainless barrel already. I do like that look on blue guns. Very nice Quack...

I'll probably get points taken away from this one too since it's 10mm

As my Kimber Supermatch II came. In this image she is either cleaned and unfired or just fired the first time and cleaned (either a virgin bride on her wedding day or the mornign of the honeymoon):

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/9484/1001212q.jpg

Not long after I bought her, I ordered a Dawson fiber optic front sight. As you can see there isn't much mileage on the Kimber yet:

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5949/1001263c.jpg

These images taken at somewhere around 20k rounds hundreds if not thousands of draws:

(sorry about the image quality)

I recently replaced the grips with VZ Operators II and have a Kimber .22 lr Converstion Kit. Images to follow.

I am taking my son and one of his friends to shoot a match this AM.

Nothing special. Just a factory Kimber Eclipse Custom II. Me thinks it's one of the nicest looking 1911's out there. It's the only 1911 I have so it gets all the attention. Of course looking at bac's collection makes me want to add more.

Why is it with two tone 1911's that the frame is usually the stainless one and the slide is usually finished with a blue or something similar? I would think it would be more benefiticial for it to be the other way around.

farscott
06-14-2010, 15:52
The frame is stainless (or hard chromed or nickeled) for increased corrosion resistance where one grips the pistol, and the slide is blued so as to not create issues with sighting in a classic two-tone. Nowadays lots of people like the reverse two-tone look, something I attribute purely to aesthetics.

1911s and non-1911s are opposite when it comes to two tone. :dunno:

You guys just helped to convince me to proceed with a project I had shelved.

I have a new Colt Govt blue series 70 slide/barrel, well everything except the frame. I had been looking for a Colt 70 blue frame. The few I found were beat to hell. After looking at the two tone pistols; I can get a Caspian SS Govt frame and put my project together.

Thanks for the great pictures of the blue slide with SS receivers.
