Ive been thinking of picking up a .22 conversion kit to help hone some IDPA skills on the cheap. Anyone here use one? What would you recommend? Marvel, Kimber, and Nighthawk are 3 that I have found.
Marvel.
feeds anything, works with frames cut for ramped barrels, works with 9mm frames and is very accurate.
i had a Kimber and a Ciener conversion kits. the Kimber wouldn't fit on my TRP, the Ciener was super picky on ammo. neither work on ramped frames or 9mm frames.
here's my Wilson/Marvel.

here's a targets that were shot at 10-12yards with double and triple taps.
started with Thunderbolts, then Golden bullets and finished with MiniMags.
when i was done i found that the barrel had alot of lead, so i think that is why the MiniMag group was slightly larger.

it you want the slide to lock back on the last round, look at the Tac-Sol kit.
I have the Kimber kit. It is some what picky on ammo, Kimber says to use CCI mini mags, I run Aguila ammo.
I have two of the Kimber Rimfires.
My .22 runs just fine with Federal Bulk, and is plenty accurate.
Both of mine have dedicated frames.

I've got a Kimber (think it's a made by Ciener) conversion slide and it works great on my Kimber and Colt full sized .45ACP frames. Use it a lot for some "driveway" shooting range practise.
I have the Kimber as well, I've run Winchester Super X hollowpoints and Aguila Interceptors through it without a problem.
I'm going to put some Federal bulk pack through it next weekend to see how it does.

Thanks for the info fellas.

If it came in a blue box it is a Ciener, if a black box then Kimber:supergrin:
I like my Kimber conversion. It was picky with I think Fed value pack. I just shot the stuff it didn't like in my 10/22. It is far more accurate than my Beretta conversion unit (factory, not Ciener). I would recommed it to anyone.
