I picked up my DE 1911 this afternoon and snapped a few pics. :)

I never thought I'd see an Israeli 1911, but now I find one sitting on my carpet.

All jokes about the rollmark and the terrible marketing slogan aside, this is a well done $700 1911. A typical 1911, especially in this price range has a trigger weight of about 4.5-5lbs. The Desert Eagle's trigger is quite a bit lighter than the masses, as in at least a pound, maybe a pound and a half. It also has a crisp break. It was very surprising how nice the trigger is. Its certainly the best trigger, by far, of all my 1911s in this price range or even a little higher.

The actual gun looks nicer then the model depicted in the AD. As you can see, mine does not have front cocking serrations. Also, the AD shows a thumb safety, plunger tube, and slide release that don't match the rest of the gun. However, those parts do match on mine. Sure, the rollmark really hurts, but the right side of the gun is very clean without an ambi safety or those front serrations.

As you can see, it comes well equipped in a nice case and extra mag.

It looks nice.....If they just could have kept the left side of the slide as clean as the right, with just the rollmarks on the frame, they would have nailed it. Are you planning on shooting this and reporting back?

I personally think the nicest fit and finished 1911 in this price range is the Kimber Custom II. I would say that the DE is a half notch below that. However, it does have a better trigger than the Custom II.

So, for the price, it sounds like it fits and looks better than the Remington R1 .:whistling:

I'm sorry Brian, but that billboard makes me want to :puking:

Other than that, it's a very good looking gun. Helped, no doubt, by your photography. Here we see what the Charles Daly G4 might have been. The contrast of that grip safety is actually appealing to me (I wouldn't have thought so).

Oh, and thank for posting that ridiculous ad again. Makes me shake my head everytime I see it.

Will do Jeff. I plan on a range trip this weekend. The DE is coming along for the ride. :)

BTW, I don't know why they went with a stainless grip safety when nothing else is. :dunno:

My Fusion and Infinity have stainless grip safties on black frames and slides, but the other small parts, such as the thumb safety, slide stop, and hammer, are stainless as well.

I have a stainless thumb safety on a government model (at one point had a Wilson stainless slide stop on it as well). I didn't like the contrast. For some reason, it spoiled the look of the gun for me. Quickest way to make a Colt look cheap. I've never gotten that impression from other, custom guns with the same features, but I really disliked the look on my Colt. I've avoided stainless grip safeties on blued/black 1911s for that reason but I have to admit, I actually like that on your gun.:dunno: Gives me something to try in the future. I shot my Colt quite a bit and the aftermarket blued WC beavertail has turned sort of a purple color with age, much like P7s are famous for doing. The stainless grip safety would preclude that.

I'm interested in knowing how this one performs.

Yeah, the ad almost stopped me from buying one.

I can't comprehend the audacity it would take to print an ad slogan like that. I think they got a lot of flack for it. I almost emailed them myself, actually.

I don't think they use it anymore.

The box is reminiscent of Dan Wesson's. Just a different color. What kind of mags come with it? I see they've put some kind of sticker on it. Probably something like "firearms are dangerous" in legalese. I will give them some points for not putting a damned safety notice of the gun (that I can see).

Don't feel bad man, I live in a westside suburb 15 min outside Cleveland and can't get jack crap delivered to my development....and I'm less than 10 min from half a dozen pizza places. Gotta love living in a Township.

Hell, I built my house 5.5 years ago, and it STILL doesn't show up on 99% of GPS units. :steamed:

i gave him a nice stay in a New Orleans jail when we kidnapped him and drove all night from St. Louis to New Orleans.

Hokie would've liked him that night since we had him change into a thong and a teddy that his wife gave us so that we could get a pic of him in that on Bourbon St.

the officer that made the arrest was a d!ck, even the other officer's we talked to said that. My friend showed some girls in a balcony his Joe Boxer smiley face thong and the officer thought that he flashed them. it was right in front of the strip club that has the swinging feet coming out of the building.

It looks nice.....If they just could have kept the left side of the slide as clean as the right, with just the rollmarks on the frame, they would have nailed it. Are you planning on shooting this and reporting back?

Well, it will certainly cut down on the useless chatter at the range...

"gawlee, whut kinda gun is that?"

I picked up my DE 1911 this afternoon and snapped a few pics. :)

I never thought I'd see an Israeli 1911, but now I find one sitting on my carpet.

BUL of Israel has been making 1911s for years. The high cap 1911s that Wilson and Kimber offered were both built on BUL receivers. The KBI 1911 was also a BUL-made 1911.

Yeah, BUL has been making parts, but I didn't think I'd see a complete 1911 anytime soon.

I was impressed with this pistol Saturday at the range. I only fired one box of 50 through it, but no hang ups whatsoever. The trigger is one of the best I've ever felt in this price range or even a bit higher.

This seems like a real good $700 1911.

Yeah, I'll be getting one as soon as my shop gets them in. Its no rush though. As for a comparison with the DE, the price is similar, but the configuration is not. :)

The Remington is more of a GI/Mil Spec configuration, while the DE is enhanced.
