Would sharpening a blade yourself or by another void a warranty?

I know if a person were to grind thru the blade then that wouldn't be covered, but would thinning the profile void, say liner lock issues if the lock-up hadn't been touched?

Thanks,
Randy

Dear Randy,

No, sharpening it yourself generally does not void the warranty, however having said that, we reserve the right to make a judgement call on the "damage" done by some sharpening attempts. For example, we have seen sharpening jobs that were 3/16" high on the edge and in my estimation that has voided the warranty as we cannot even work it back to original specs.

And in regard to work done on a knife; any work on the knife does void the overall warranty.

My Best Regards,
