Epson cx8400 won't scan w/o replacing ink?

I'm trying to scan on my 3 in one printer.

Getting the "replace ink cartridges message".

Will this prevent me from scanning?

I don't have any Epson printers anymore but the annoyance of the ink warning always kind of p*%$d me off. Usually there was plenty of ink left.

I found a replacement firmware for my various Epson printers and installed that to disable the warning.

Don't know if you are interested but have a google based on your model.
