Well in my quest and research to come back to the 1911 platform I have about driven myself and a couple of forum members insane

The Valor is one pistol that I have always liked but has always eluded me. I "almost" had one a few times, but it didn't work out.

2 days ago I spotted a NIB unfired DW Valor for sale on another forum by a member with whom I have dealt with successfully in the past. After a few emails asking for pictures and negotiating sales price, we had sealed the deal. Payment was sent yesterday and now I'm anxiously awaiting for my FFL to call and say the pistol has arrived. I wanted a decent pistol to leave as is (for now), to be able to shoot and CCW, and hold me over until my next 1911 arrives. This pistol is new in box and unfired purchased in April of this year.

I have a set of LD Horned Lizard grips waiting for the Valor here at the house, and now I just need to score me some nice leather for it.

These are the only pictures I have right now which were emailed by the seller:

I have settled on the 2 platforms that work "for me" and a 1911 in 45 ACP is one of them. I'll try to hold on to it, and the one that will be ordered soon as well. ;)

What other platform do you use? I thought I could be just a one platform guy as well. I cant. Got an M&P I am going to pick up in trade for IDPA SSP and Ive got a M&P9 compact on order.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm as anxious as a kid before Xmas to get this in and start putting rounds through it so I can CCW it. I also can't wait to see how she looks with the Horned Lizard grips. I will post my own pics and a range report once I get it in and to the range.

In 9mm I just like the simplicity and ease of use of the Glocks, preferably with the full size frames.

I have recently shot an M&P Full Size a lot and really liked that as well but I'm not ready to ditch the Glocks and the mags and what not for it.

And of course the BHP has a special place in my heart, especially the one my father in law passed on to me.

True enough. The only reason I switched from Glock was that the grip angle is similar to the 1911. Not that I find Glock uncomfortable, and not that the grip angle makes a big difference. IMHO the Glock 19 is the best all around 9mm ever built. I carried one daily for a while and shot IDPA with it.

Yeah that's where I'm torn on the Glock VS M&P ordeal, as the M&P has a more 1911 like angle. The problem, if you wan't to call it that, which I'm having now is that from shooting the 1911's more consistently and getting more trigger time behind one, it's not an easy transition back to the Glock as far as POA goes. My shot's are off to the left a bit from where I'm aiming, the groupings are good, just off to the left. I know, too much finger on the trigger, but still off none the less. I have not started to do so yet, but want to start shooting with the local IDPA guys. Just need to figure out which gun will serve that purpose, don't want to go get the holsters and what not for something and it not be what I use.

Well after anxiously waiting for the pistol here she is. I'm VERY pleased with this pistol to say the least. I will get better pictures up on Thursday in the morning with better lighting this is the best I could do right now at the moment. I put 100 flawless rounds through the pistol today at the range along with a couple of my co-workers. I did not add any lube or anything the pistol was just fine as it was. It's an unfired Valor, and I didn't have one single malfunction of any kind with dirty WWB. To say that this gun is accurate would be an understatement. I know it's a production gun, but I'm just at a loss for words with the fit and finish of the pistol for something that is not custom. I much prefer this pistol over my old SS SA TRP. The trigger pull on this pistol is absolutely incredible, it caught me of guard. This one has the adjustable rear Novak night sight which I might swap out in favor of either a 10-8 or Heinie plain black rear sight. Other than that it's going to stay as is except for some more magazines and a healthy diet of ammo. I want to put another 400 rounds through this gun so that I may then work it into my CCW rotation, I can easily see this becoming my main CCW pistol. Here she is wearing the Larry Davidson Horned Lizard Grips I scored from a member of another forum.

First magazine through at 7 yards, off to the left a bit, I think it's because of the slim grips, the regular grips fill in my hands better:

should take the low rear sight .325", my front sight on my TRP & Kobra Carry are .175"

My EMP took the .375" rear sight.

depends on the rear cut, but should be a direct fit like my KC.

now if it was a Springfield, you would have to do a little filing on the rear sight.
for some reason Springfield's dovetail is slightly smaller than the actual Novak.
I had to do this on both my TRP and EMP to get the sight on.

before you install the sight, and after you have the old sight out, compare the bases of the old and new sight.
