View Full Version : Playing a CD made for Win 95
I just found a set of National Geographic Cds made for windows 95/3.1. I purchased this in 1997 and lost track of the set. It contains every map, picture and article from 1888 - 1997. Pretty neat, or so I suppose as I cannot play them on my computers with either XP or Vista. I'd very much like to copy or save these to DVDs or an external drive. Any ideas on how to do this? I'm at a loss. I can always use them for targets next time I shoot, but would really like to access and save the content.
Do you get any errors when you do it or does it just not do it?
Maybe try right clicking the CD or executable that runs the CD -> Properties -> Compatibility -> change to windows 95.
Beyond that, if you have the Windows 95 install disc, can always try something like Virtual Box and install Windows 95 on that.
That did it. Vista was useless, but XP allowed me to install the 'search' and basic run features of the set. I can pop in any cd now and find the info. The compatibility mode was the key. Thanks.
