Which is your preference?

I definitely prefer Stainless over anything else. Secondly, maybe Hard Chromed, blued or some other finish. Lastly, parked, although it makes for easily gun koting, which is what I am thinking about doing to my SA milspec...

I like a classic blued pistol.
Nothing is more beautiful than a classic Colt.

I like stainless just for it's corrosion resistance.
I don't liked the look or feel of parkerizing though I have two pistols like that.

I like carbon steel 1911s, starting with hard chrome, then a nice bluing. As far as black finishes go, I like Black T and Roguard.

I own a bunch of stainless 1911s, but my high end models are virtually all carbon steel. Its simply a better material for a top notch 1911, in my opinion.

I really like the NP3/NP3+.....especially for a carry gun in the humidity in the Southeast.

For carry guns, I prefer stainless, though with a matte finish instead of polished.

For range/fun guns, it really doesn't matter, as long as the finish holds up well to handling/holstering.

I love parkerized guns. Military sort of made me like them.
I grew up in the days before stainless guns so it was a choice between blued and parkerized.
Blued guns are nice but they are not as durable for a rough service duty gun.
I have noticed that some companies do not have a good quality parkerizing but if done right it is still my favorite.
If I wanted a bright shiney gun I would go with stainless over a nickle plated gun.

How about hard chrome, Quack?

I think HC slipped my mind I would have HC first then in the order Quack said.

my 6 1911s, colt python, and s&w 4516 are all stainless! at some point i'll have to get a picture of them with their stainless barrelled ar and dpms 308 safemates. and for good measure the browning buckmark in there has a stainless barrel. that's the whole collection, along with the benelli with their h2o coating that makes it look "silver."

1. Blued
2. Park.
3. Black Coating
4. HC
5. Stainless
6. Nickel

The stainless and "silver" guns just don't have the same kind of character dark guns do.

I carry my 1911's which is why they are all stainless. Aesthetics wise I prefer a nice deep blueing, nothing is more pretty in my opinion, but combined with me carrying it and my highly corrosive sweat, I gotta go with stainless. Not really into the hardchrome look or nickel. Parkerizing is fine.

My favored local shop has a stainless Dan Wesson Valor in stock. It's the most beautiful gun I've ever handled.

Haven't been able to justify the $1400 yet, but I think I'm getting there.

I love a deep black or blued finish...like Roguard or Black T...but I also love a HC finish or NP3...just depends on my mood I guess? I DO NOT like parkerized guns...just never have. But that is what Robar Industries is for!
