My first SIG

Love my Glocks but have always liked and respected the Sig Sauer line. Pondering my next pistol I got to talking with my dealer and he told me he had a nice older trade in SIG from a Sheriff's sale. Followed me home a couple of days ago!

Thanks, I've always liked SIGs and I'm glad I bought this one. The only issue I have with it is the location of the slide release; I'm so used to keeping my thumbs up high and I shoot this one like a 1911 where I rest my thumb on the safety. I kept getting the slide closing on an empty chamber and thought I had bad mags until I realized that I had my thumb over the top of the release so it would never catch the slide! I've modified my grip just enough to shoot it well but not where I'll develop a bad habit with my Glocks.

I'm really impressed with how well that SIG soaks up the .40 cal recoil; people I know that shoot SIGs said it was like driving a Cadillac and they are right. This probably won't be my last SIG.

I had the same exact issue when I first got my P226. I had to modify my grip a little and once I got use to the new grip the issue never happened again.

I have a 229 and love to shoot it. It is my competition pistol alongside a Colt Gold Cup. The Sig 40s are very mild on recoil, a real joy to shoot IMHO
