Looking for Commander length 1911 for daily CCW. Max OTD price is $900. Looking for good sights, no black. I prefer to have it ready to go out of the box with no modifications if possible. Suggestions?
Is it really worth it spending extra for stainless?
Also, where's a good place to find it?

Or step up to $1,100 and you may be able to find one of these....they are out there.

I would think you could find plenty of good used Commanders out there for that price. I picked up a a nice 1966 Colt Commander back in 2004 for $600 at a pawn shop.....and if it's steel you want, the Combat Commanders are out there even cheaper.
Maybe you could work something out http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1231585

Yeah, that was my first thought too. Asking $1,200, but it's 4 years old and has had 2 owners. There may be some wiggle room here. :whistling:
if that sells for $1200, i'll go pick up the Cbob i found last week and sell it for profit :whistling:

Will both of those STI's fit most commander length holsters? I think one is 3.9" & the other 4.3" barrels.

yes, if you get the 4.25" holster.

LOL no kidding. Honestly, you could pick that one up and sell it for $1,300+ probably.
i may try to see if i can get the one i found for under $1000 ;)
STI Ranger or CBOB for a bit more. There was one listed on this site for 1100 bucks. I wanted to buy it but realized I had spent all my money at the wrong time. Crap.

I like the suggestions on the CBOB & STI Ranger II.

CBOBs can be found. I scored a NIB '09 for $1,049. Quack found it in this middle of nowhere shop by us. They are out there.
The Ranger2 is a really nice gun for the money.

These are my two Commander length guns for carry. Both under or about a thousand. Plain Jane but paid for. Love 'em both but would really like to have a pre-front serrations series Colt LW Commander in stainless. Someday...
