I suspect I'm fast approaching 40k (maybe 50k) rounds of .45, maybe 10k of .22 through the Kimber .22 conversion kit, maybe 5000 practice draws... and more slide drops on an MT chamber than I can count

In the hospital now (Thank God for free wireless) and they wont let me keep it next to me so I have to rely on the 438 hidden in my bag. Been here going on 5 weeks.

Danged nurses wont even let me reload!!!!

Did you just reply to this post to point out the fact that you can tell what 1911 that is despite of the crappy photos?

My camera is broke so I cant take a pic of my scratched up Mil-Spec. It runs like a champ even with the rusty barrel.

Colt 1911.

Built in 1918 - used in France in WWI.

This belonged to a good friend's relative. The owner, who passed away this spring, carried it in WW II. He killed 3 Japanese soldiers with it in a chance encounter that went very bad (for them).

He carried it with him everywhere, every day until he died. It was loaded and on his bedstand when he passed away in his sleep.

The stories this gun could tell.

In the early 60's, gunsmith RL Shockey was sought out by many bullseye competitors for his competition guns, and noted for his "mousetrap" which was an accurizing technique to return the barrel to a consistent lockup. Complete with "old school" tiger tooth hand stippling.

The 1960's carpet borrowed from Bac :)

Enjoy, Steve
