I need to have access to wireless internet and prefer the MiFi technology over a USB card. That is a new technology where you carry your own wireless access point with you. The advantage is that all Wi-fi enabled devices will be able to use it. Laptops, iPads, PSP, etc....

I use AT&T and I can't leave. I'm not sure if it is worth it to sign up for a $59.99 monthly plan at Verizon. My tech guy recommended this device, GlobeSurfer III 3G Wireless Gateway for Voice & Data. You add a SIM card with data plan and you are good to go. Anyone use one of these? Does it work?

so this is basically a wireless card, but it acts as a wifi access too.

sounds like it's going to be slow. you can't get wired internet? and then use wifi from that connection ?

I can't get Wi-Fi in many of the places I will be going. I don't want to pay for just one USB when with a Mi-Fi device, you can have any Wi-Fi enabled device to access it. That gives me more fexibility with my laptop, iPhone, and my families devices.

Can your phone act as a mifi hotspot? I found the instructions online and turned my Pre into a mifi for up to five devices. Since my data plan is unlimited, this works out very well.

I have an iPhone and it cannot act as a hotspot. I wasn't aware there were any phones that could be turned into hotspots. How do you do this?
