Guys, just upgraded my netbook RAM to 2GB in my ASUS Eee 1005 PEB.

How in the world can I ever tell if that 2GB will do more for me?

OpenOffice is booting up double fast.

Any freeware to test and show improvement?

Thanks.

There's your answer. More memory allows for more items in memory which will make everything quicker and more responsive.

To really benchmark you need before and after tests.

I too upgraded my Asus EEE 1005 HAB to 2 gigs and didn't do much with performance tests. I perceive it to be faster and I do know that when opening large .tiff images I don't swap nearly as much.
But what do we do with the old 1 gig chips?

i'd open several things up and switch back and forth between them

I did the same with my HP/Compaq netbook, it's 100 times faster. I didn't benchmark it, but it is noticably quicker.

I have the same question about the old 1GB sodimm. What to do with it?

But what is the street value of a 1GB stick?

Ebay

put in 2 gig in my and my moms mini 9....
seems to work great.

for my moms i took out one of the two 2 gig sticks in my wifes xps laptop and replaced it with the 1 gig stick from the mini 9; now my wifes xps runs 3 gigs and my moms mini runs 2.
that was about the only use for a 1 gig stick i could find, in a swap.
