AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

I want an Ed Brown, Slick Slide, Carry model with Gen III coating, Night sights and a short solid trigger. But do I get the Kobra Karry or the Special Forces Carry?

I can't decide, please help!!!!!

Tough decision. I might would go with the SF, just because so many people have the KC. But, the KC is a real beauty, so there's a reason. I was in the same boat about a year and half ago with those two guns. I swapped up choices over and over, between those 2 and several others. Just flip a coin I guess

True, it's the checkering vs. snakeskin that is the real issue.

Actually Joe, its snake skin vs chainlink.

You're thinking of the Executive Carry. :tongueout:

Do what I did. Print out the Brown "build a 1911" form off their website. Pick slide length, construction material, texturing options, finish options, sights, grips, trigger, and whatever else you want. Go to a Brown dealer and hand them the sheet. Come back in 8 weeks and pick up your pistol built exactly the way you want it.

It's no more expensive, and it's exactly what you want. You don't want to regret even the most minor option when you pay that much money.

I have the Kobra Carry but the S.F. carry is very nice as well. The Chainlink is a great feel in the hand. Can not tell you which one to get but I can direct you to who to buy it from.

http://www.migunslingers.com/

Just ordered for the 4th time from George, great guy, great prices and excellent service, plus the best layaway program in the world for 1911s. I paid $2195 shipped for my made to order Kobra Carry for comparison, plus since I am in Tejas I did not have to pay sales tax so that saved me around $175 as well.

Good Luck!

Ed Browns symbloize something my hs football coach used to say. "I better not see you speed up when your runnin laps and i better not see you slow down" (something like that) Because if you slow down, your not going as fast as you can. if you speed up, you werent running as fast as you could in the first place.

Unlike EVERY OTHER 1911 maker, Ed Brown runs as fast as they can all the time. The only differences between their firearms are things like finish (stainless, blued, or special Gen3 coat on their stainless) Size (Commander/Carry 4.25" or Fullsize/Government 5") Bobtail or no bobtail. Ambi safety or not, then the "metal treatment": There is SNAKESKIN, CHAINLINK or 25lpi checkering.
Other than that every gun they make is the same, Absolute TOP of the line.

Glock is similar in this fashion

Its frustrating browsing other manufacturers (like LesBaer) when they have 20+ different models and its hard to tell which has what and which may be lacking in some areas. (btw les baer is a great 1911, just an expample of many diff 1911 models)

Iforget their name, but someone nailed it ^^^ just fill out the custom form and send it in. The SF and Kobra Carry (actually all their models) are just a reccomended/popular configurations of the custom options I listed earlier. Wait the extra few weeks and get exactly what you want.

Kobra Carry.

I have a Special Forces 5". I prefer the feel of the chainlink over the scales of the Kobra.

However, I have since put pachmeyer wrap-arounds on the gun, as they are my fav grips.

Now, I kind of wish I had bought a Kobra - as I like the way the slide looks on the Kobra.

If Brown would just make 1911s in 9mm, I'd probably own a couple more Browns by now.

I like the executive series, but I don't like the 25 lpi checkering. I have it on other pistols, and it is not my favorite grip surface.

Variety is the spice of life. I wouln't want all of my guns to be the same anyway. I love the "STIppling" on my Trojan but I wouldn't want to get a SF because the frames are similar. If I didn't have the Trojan I would probably go with the SF. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

I feel the same way about the snakeskin on the Kobras. I love the look, but it's a little too agressive in feel for my taste. I opted for chain link on my latest Brown. It's a little less abrasive for high volume shooting classes, and sticks in my hand just fine. As you said though, it's all about personal preference.

This is an older Class A Commander that belongs to DHart and I think it's one of the sexiest Browns I've seen.

Myself as well, though if I had to buy any one, it'd be the blue/ blue executive elite......a classy classic, if you will.

Oh the KC felt amazing, but I would prefer no flat trigger. That's just me. I shot his EMP, TRP, STI, and the KC...all with flat triggers. His Remington wasn't switched to the flat trigger at that time, and it was just more natural feeling to me. But I will definitely be picking up a KC in the next year or 2.
