After getting away from Glocks and the 10 for a while i picked up a new G20SF with factory adjustable sights. Took the pistol home, took it out of the box, packed the range bag and 25 minutes later ran 150 rounds of Blazer 200 grain FMJ's through it.

Flawless functioning, very accurate(the SF was the perfect hand fit for me) and enough power to cause the 12" gong at 100 yards to swing on a hit. Already ordered the 6" barrel to really torque up the fps when i run some corbons and silvertips through it.

I really missed this!!

My stainless guide rod from lone wolf, and 6 inch factory barrel should be here this week. First order of business will be to chronograph winchester silvertips out of the 6 inch barrel. A friend of mine has a hunting cabin in PA, and tells me i can hunt with a handgun in PA. We plan a trip in the fall and i am going to see if i can take one with my G20. I plan on using silvertips.

You DO realize that we'll need pics of the 6" setup, right? They are mandatory. :)

You can hunt with a handgun in PA but not a semi auto handgun.

Congrats on the G20 I am in the market for one now.

Don't expect to see a huge difference with that 6" barrel. I see about a 70 fps avg spread between my 29 and my 20 and barely 20-25 fps avg spread between the stock barrel and the 6"

...with a new 20SF which I intend to be my EDC gun (in a bellybag with 2 extra mags). The only ammo I could find in town, other than Blazer aluminum, was Hornady XTP180s, so I bought 3 20boxes. Shot most of those today. The gun and ammo functioned perfectly and shot as accurately as I can. Muzzleflash was noticeable in an indoors range.

Found a couple K of CCI300 primers yesterday and already have powders and bullets--XTP155s--so now I can put together a few reloads to shoot tomorrow morn in the Phoenix-summer heat.:faint:Was only 115d.F. yesterday chasing around town. Will be chronoing all the reloads and the Hornady 180s.

Here's an interesting pic of ammo.

Two on the left are 357SIG factory loads (Fiocchi and Speer), then a .40S&W Federal 155HP, then the Hornady 180XTP in Big 10, and then a .45GAP Speer GD 185.

Lots of Honady amo around here. 155gr, 180 gr, 200 grain. I put 2 boxes of each through my G20SF along with a 50 round box blazer and one box of silvertips during my second rage trip. No problems and lots of ragged holes. Looks like i will have to take that trip to PA with my smith 686 with 4" barrel. I will have to research the best ammo. Don't know if they till make the 180 grain Partition Gold any more.
The G20SF is truly an all purpose pistoil.

The 20sf is "the Gun" that convinced me, after all these years, to try a Glock. I used to carry a .357mag wheel gun here in the mountains of Montana. Not anymore! 16rds of 10mm in a controlable, reliable, comfortable to carry package. What's not to like?

I wasn't too enamored with Glocks either, but I had to have a G20. Bought one in 1995, and just bought another used G20SF myself, barely shot, and I have not even taken it to the range. I miss AZ, left 7 years ago. I used to drive 20 minutes from my house in North Phoenix and shoot to my hearts contend, but I hear it is all built up now.

That one word sums it up for me! I am blessed with un-limited shooting minutes from the house. The G20 covers all the bases quite well in a controllable package.(I never could get my hand around a DESERT EAGLE !)

Comet,
As far as I know Winchester still offers the .357M 180gr PGHP; saw it in a catalog a few months back.

If you get a 6" barrel for the G20 (esp. a BarSto or other fully supported barrel), you should really look into DoubleTap, Reeds, Buffalo Bore, CorBon and others to get some serious speed. If you're stuck with local off the shelf stuff, then the 155gr XTP should show some zip from the 6".

If you're reallllly serious about speed, get a 9x25D barrel and get your G20 up to 2000fps. Not many practical applications but still fun.

I have loaded up some hornady XTP's in new starline brass with CCi 300 primers 1.255 oal with 10.3gr Power Pistol. 1335Ft/sec 610ft/lbs energy. Start at 9.5 gr and work up. No data from alliant on the 155 gr. but 165gr Speer max load is 10.0gr Power pistol. I get 1300 ft/sec with a 9.8 PP in new starline brass CCI300 LP primer 1.255 OAL 603ft/energy 165gr Rem Golden Sabers and 1290ft/sec with 165gr Montana Gold star for me is 9.0gr and work up.. I live in San Antonio temps not as hot as AZ but lower in elevation and higher humidity. You might get a few ft/sec more. Still great loads for SD. No pressure issues with either load

This thing shoots ok but the design of the slide allows the recoil spring to scrape the barrel underneath. Don't know if LWD knows about this or not.

Congrats! I just bought a new G29 SF and the shop has several G20 SF's. I'm contemplating trading my old G20 in for a new G20 SF!

Just because I like technical pursuits AND unusual calibers, I'm tempted to buy a 9X25 barrel for my 20SF, but I just bought a LW 5.15"er and I'm busy with that.

JefferyBehr, The only reason I threw the 9x25Dillon in there is because I do actually handload for that caliber also and it wasn't in the picture you posted. This round does perform better from longer barrels. But I am working with various powders trying to balance performance to the 5" and 4" barrels...not an easy task. I will find the right combination to achive my goals.

I've been fascinated with the 9X25 ever since I learned of its existance, which was only a few weeks ago.

I have a 357SIG-caliber Glock 32 w/LW 4.5" barrel for a carry gun, so I'm not allergic to hi-velocity 9mm bullets, but I'll concentrate on the Big-10 for a while. :embarassed:

i was a 45 man right along, after my conversion from a wheelgun.
Then i learned of the 460 rowland....

but the G-20 is what i settled on, after reluctantly setting aside my G-21. i love that 10mm, particularly in the glock package.

Jeff, the 5.15" barrel hangs out that much? I was thinking of getting one, but may just get the 6" instead.
