Just a quick " What do you use for SD ammo that runs reliably in PM45? "
I've only tried Hornady 230gr. and 200gr. XTP hp's and neither would function well. Kept getting FTF's. The pistol ran great on my reloads, 230gr. FMJ. I just need a place to start so I don't waste too much money buying ammo that won't work. If I get a couple suggestions I will buy a few boxes to test and then decide from there which one works best for me. Thanks for any help.

I carry Fed EFMJ 45acp in mine works great. Also Speer SB.

Check out the OAL from your reloads to SD ammo?

failure to feed? Nosediving or not going into battery?

failure to fire? Primer struck but not firing?

edit: read your other posts and figured it out. I have no personal experience but know a reloader who swears by Hornady XTP bullets because they have a pointier shape and, according to him, they feed the best.

230 grain ball
In case this weapon ever has to be used:
1. No "hot-killer" load questions in court.
2. Exit hole will leak as much fluids as entry wound.
3. Never have I had a feeding problem with my PM45 using ball.

8th - Good question, I'll double check OAL's to see whats up.

Mitchg233 - Failure to feed, catching on feed ramp, slide about 1/3 way back to battery, back 1/2 of round still touching mag, front 1/2 jammed on feed ramp.

Shoerterer - It fed 120 rounds ( FMJ ) flawlessly after a trigger bar and spring change, point taken on the ball ammo.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

The overall length of Hornaday 45 ammo is too long for Kahr Pistols. I had trouble, and called Kahr to inquire. They confirmed this.
I use Speer 200g self defense +P JHP ammo in my CW45 and it functions perfectly. Accuracy is also very good.

Has anyone tried the Pow'r Ball stuff?

I would return the gun for rework. There is no excuse for it requiring boutique ammo, even if the .45 ACP was adapted to a three inch barrel form. I have three Kahrs myself and know how this goes with my .40, which is also particular at the moment. The Hornady should run fine, and I would keep working the gun until that proves true. I believe it involves the steep ramp and your mags and your mag springs. Don't order parts, because they will send you stuff that doesn't fit. Send then the gun and let them figure it out. It will work when you get it back.

Kahr already knows that Hornaday and Magtech factory ammunition will not work in their 45 cal pistols. The overall length is too long for their chambers. I have found this out the hard way.
Remington GDHP ammo will work. Speer 200g self defense +P ammo works really well in my CW45 pistol.

Speer gold dot short barrel loads work fine in my CW45

Andyyo5,

After reading that Horn does not fit in KAHR 45 mags,

I tried my CD in my new TP 45 mags. Work fine, only tried

one out of 3. Not enough time to check my P45 and PM45

mags. Other Horn ammo may not fit. If I have any other

45acp Horn ammo I will try it soon.

Hornaday 230g JHP +P rounds DO FIT in the magazine, but they do not in the CHAMBER.

I've had no problems with 230 grain Federal HST in my PM45. I've only put one box through due to cost. And almost 3500 rounds of FMJ, which hurts my own argument about cost...
