Or are there some that you won't shoot, for some reason? Just wondering.

i believe that there are some that he hasn't/won't shoot. i think the most recent is the Colt.

Actually, there are only three I won't shoot, but several that I haven't shot yet.

The three I won't shoot are the following. All three were sold to me "unfired" and I plan to keep them that way.

'67 Colt National Match

Valtro 1998A1

AMT Hardballer

http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu324/cutillo_2009/000_1624.jpg

I won't fire the Colt because its beautiful the way it is and also a reminder of how nicely this company used to build a 1911.

I won't fire the Valtro because its very nice, but also extremely hard to find, especially unfired. Value is very high and will continue to climb.

I won't fire the AMT simply because I have no desire. I bought it for my collection since they were the first stainless guns, though problematic.

Hope this answers your question. :wavey:

I'll add that the most tempting to shoot is the Valtro and I may eventually do so.

I don't own anything else quite like it. I'm not saying its the best, but certainly more exotic than any of my others.

Exactly my thoughts Dave.

The early stainless they used was prone to bad galling. I didn't pay much for it and its unfired in the box with papers and everything. Its kind of cool in that sense.

The trigger is terrible, feels like 10 lbs. :faint:

I meant to add that the Hardballer was designed to look just like the Colt Gold Cup National Match. I think its the only Gold Cup clone that was ever produced, but not certain.

Of course, quality wasn't even in the same league as Colt.

Like Brian, I have a couple I will not shoot and many I have not. I have two Colts that I will not shoot because of their pristine condition.

One is a 1980 Series 70....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/jamesrea_08/DSC00655.jpg

and the other is a 1997 Combat Target. There is not even a mark on the feedramp.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/jamesrea2010/001-9.jpg

My Gold Cup Trophy is another I may never shoot because it is still like new.

There are somethings you like to preserve in a collection because of value sake. As a collector, you have to consider these things when you make certain purchases.

I did.

I tried calling back, but it went right to voicemail. I'm glad you like it, as I knew you would.

Its a very nice 1911, in my opinion. Looking forward to pics. :)

I'm sure a couple of you of heard me tell the story about one of the 27-2s I owned that I just couldn't bring myself to shoot being unfired and all. I got so sick of it I just sold it. I don't like being gentle on any of my pistols and this one I knew needed a better home.

It did; I figured that you had at least one or two that are not to be fired, or "wallhangers"!

The only gun I have that I hardly ever shoot is my Walther PP .32, only because .32 is so damned hard to find, and prohibitively expensive when I do find it. Shame, really; it's one of my most accurate pistols.

As in one pic? :dunno:

I can take group pics, but not all in one.

I can take one 1911 family pic and one revolver family pic. I'm not sure I could take one pic of everything else. I'd probably have to break it up.

yes please do... I'm wondering what polymer pistols you own, I know you've posted that you have glocks and a XDm... Most of my guns are polymer, I don't have enough money to venture very far into 1911's. Only one I have is a springfield champion.

I'm really not a big polymer guy.

I own a couple Glocks, an XDm, a Sig Pro, a Beretta PX4, an FN FiveseveN, and a few others, including a couple rimfires.

I do have a few more on my list, but I like steel and metal handguns.

I could probably bring all my stuff down to the living room, move some funature around, and get a step ladder. However, the angle would be horrible and I doubt you could see everything anyway.

I'd probably have a hard time just getting all my non-1911 autos in one pic, let alone adding 1911s and revolvers.

Going up and down the steps dozens of times isn't fun either. ;)
