Gen3 barrel in a Gen4 40?

I ordered a Gen3 G23 the other day. I'm not trying to start a Gen3/Gen4 argument. I just prefer the Gen3 for personal reasons.

If I do end up having to settle (in the sense that it's not my first choice) for a Gen4, will a Gen3 barrel fit it properly? Has anyone have both generations tried this barrel swap?

I'm asking because the 9mm conversion is back ordered at Lone Wolf. I would like to order that now so it will hopefully arrive when the Gen3 gun does in August. If I order it now and it won't work in the Gen4, assuming a Gen3 can't be had, that will be a bother.

I have a 3rd Gen G19 RTF2 & it has the 1 on the barrel hoods side & has a slope toward the upper front of the breach top, I have a guy offering to sell/trade me for an extended threaded barrel & wonder if this type of earlier barrel will work in the later made slide/frame
His barrel hood top is completely flat like other earlier G19s I've had..
That's the bad thing when they start changing things around..
