The Precision Delta (PD) order showed up. I must say, quick shipping is a definite plus. Ordered on evening of July 5 (a holiday for many) and it showed up the following Saturday (5 days). No complaints there.

Well packed is another plus (I've had shipping containers show up with a 500 count box of projectiles all over the place.) They came in a heavy duty bag that was sealed with filament tape. The bag was in a PD box which itself was packed (and padded) in a shipping box. Everything was well taped and arrived in good shape.

The projectiles look good. Not as shiney as Remington, Winchester or Hornady; but that's only cosmetic (ie not an issue in my book). I grabbed a sample from the bag. They all weighed pretty close to the specified 115gr. No arguments there. Pulling out the calipers, I found they weren't exactly round. There was some variation in diameter when measured. Nothing serious, after all these are plinking; not target rounds.

The only negative I can see (and it may not apply to everyone), is the open base. More ranges are insisting on TMJ (vs FMJ) to minimize lead vapor in the air. If you shoot at an outside range, there shouldn't be an issue. If your range is going green, they may insist on a TMJ projectile (here is where plated would be a benefit) and you would have to shoot something else. You could lie to the RO; but it's easy to get caught in the lie. How would they find out what they were? Easy, fire a round into a clearing trap (most any good range will have one), and look at what came out.

The only other semi negative was the price was not as low as expected (low; but not as low). The advertised $70/1000 (shipping included) is if you order in multiples of 2000 projectiles. Order less than 2000 and a $5 charge applies. Order 3000, and a $5 charge applies. That brings PD (9mm 115 FMJ-RN) to $75/1000 delivered. Berry's 9mm-115 PMJ-RN) is $79.95/1000 delivered. For less than $5, it's going to depend on how they shoot.

The final proof is in how they shoot. The Berry's shoot great in my Glocks. If the PD shoot as well, it will be a tough choice. I like that I can use the Berry's at the range without having to BS the RO. If the PDs shoot as well, then they will certainly be on my list. It's good to have options.

Thanks for the tip guys. I'll let you know how they shoot.

Good deal. I have been very satisfied with my PD orders as well - on the side note - if you are looking for bullets that have an enclosed base - you might try the montana gold 115g JHP - they run $75.5 shipped if you buy the 4k lot ($302 including shipping). Either way both bullets run excellent on both G17 and G34, montana gold runs way cleaner because of the enclosed base.

Good to know. How is MGs shipping?

Yeah, always gotta read the fine print when it comes to shipping, from anyone. I dodn;t shoot a lot of jacketed bullets, but when I have ordered form PD ot MG, it's always fast & the bullets come nicely boxed. MG are a pretty good deal if you order the bulk box. I find them slightly better quaility than PD.

Good to know. How is MGs shipping?

I order 3000 MGs at a time... I'm on my 7th case right now. I order on Sunday, they're at my office by Thursday. They fill up a medium Flat Rate box, they're also in another heavy-duty cardboard box with staples, and a bag inside that. They're FAST, and all 8 have shown up in fine shape.

Montana Gold all the way.

I'm on my second order from PD. The first had both cals. backordered and slow (over a month to delivery), but the second was here in less than 5 days. No quality issues and, for jacketed bullets, in quantity, the price is hard to beat.

I've had good experiences with Precision Delta, the key is as long as they have the product. If they do, you will get it fairly fast, if not, it could be half a year!!

The range will not know if the base is open lead or not. And the lead vapor argument. Please. Enough already!

They certainly will if they have a clearing trap (many do). I'm not making the lead vapor argument. They own the place, they make the rules.

There's lead vapor in casting; why not in an indoor range?

It's not that hard to tell if they're really curious. Long ago (before I'd even considered reloading and was mostly shooting Blazer), I was curious about Blazer FMJ, as I'd heard all Blazer was really TMJ/CMJ, whatever you want to call it. I was talking to the guy running the range about it, and he pulled out an impact bullet puller and we found out, at least for that batch, that it really was TMJ, even though the package only said FMJ.

Same goes for reloads at ranges that forbid them. Are they really going to know the difference? Only if they look closely at your ammo (or if you're obvious about it...border shift bag, mixed headstamp blemished brass, cast lead or odd looking projectiles, etc. Package your reloads in old factory ammo boxes, and odds are, they won't notice. They may wonder when you insist on collecting your brass :)
